Today we’d like to introduce you to Haylo Tattoo Artist
Hi Haylo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a professional tattoo artist of almost 18 years. I’m thriving as a solo artist in a private studio in a very male dominated industry.
Coming from a very rough childhood, I taught myself at a very young age to harness my emotions, sadness, happiness, loss, depression, or joy… to utilize as fuel to become a creator.
After a mutual friend of mine was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2007, I drew a realistic portrait of him for his funeral, I was discovered by the tattoo industry as having huge potential of being a realism style tattoo artist.
Amongst my hardships over the years including losing a sister in 2009, my late spouse (he took his own life) in 2010, shattering my right arm in an arm wrestling tournament in 2011 and becoming a single mother shortly after, I have experienced many circumstances and adversities that have taught me how much a positive mindset and heart full of gratitude can be the greatest tool in my lifetime.
I always hope that when I share my stories that I can motivate and influence others to grow, ascend and persevere in their own lives and professions to write their own success story
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As stated in my previous response, I have overcame the losses of a sister, a spouse after he committed suicide, shattering my right arm, and becoming a single mother all pursuing success in a very HARD industry to grow and be successful in.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional tattoo artist of 18 years at of July 2025, I specialize in realism art, both on skin and on canvas. I’m known for my love of animals, especially horses, and the vast majority of my drawings and tattoo art is of animals or animal focused designs.
I have never had a “trail blazer” to guide me along the way.
While teaching myself how to draw when I was a child, I taught myself color theory and lighting, as well as how to build, manage and grow my social media, website, and continue to further my education in both art, tattooing, and mindset.
I believe what sets me apart is that I never wanted to be “the champion of easy”. Even after nearly 18 years I still LOVE what I do, I strive to build solid relationships with my clients, and let my authentic self be what sets me apart from the crowd.
I want my art to speak for itself, and I am very honored to have built a successful career amongst the early years of hazing, sexual harassment, bullying, and dealing with controlling shop owners.
Unlike most tattoo shops that are big open rooms with loud, screaming music, with the smell of cigarette smoke and people who sit around and complain all day… I offer a very ZEN environment. I’m in a private suite in the back of a beauty lounge. I have essential oils defusing through out my clients tattoo sessions, my music is there for background noise and I am able to have wonderful conversations with my clients. I learned that the more calm and peaceful the environment, the longer a client can sit through the hours of pain during their tattoo sessions.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
The harder I work, the more “luck” I seem to have 😅
