Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaycie Jacobsen
Hi Jaycie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had always had a passion for the makeup side of the beauty Industry so I had enrolled into cosmetology school my senior year of high school. I had gone to Avalon School of Cosmetology and graduated in 2020. I then was at a salon for a couple of months before the COVID-19 Pandemic hit. After that, I had took a few years away from the industry. I had started to get my lashes done consistently and love the way it had made me feel so I had the passion to make others feel the same way. I took a 3 day lash course. It may have been really difficult for me to get the coordination of it, but once I did I fell in love with the art of it. I love how you can customize the lashes to anyone’s preference. Once I had started to gain more confidence with lashes, I decided to take on more services. That is when I had took a permanent make up course as well as fly out to Vegas for their annual PMU conference where I learned so many different people and their techniques. At the time I had also seen how tiny tattoos were trending so I applied my skills that I learned in PMU and took on a fine line tattoo course in March of 2024. There’s so much to learn in the beauty industry and everyday I am learning something new. My clientele is growing each day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been an easy road. Building a steady clientele while still working another job is not for the weak. I’ve also have had the habit of comparing myself to other artists that have been doing it for years. I have learned to not compare, but rather learn from them. Everyone starts somewhere. It has been a long journey to gain clientele, but my small business has been growing the more I post on social media.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently offer lash extensions and tiny tattoos. I specialize in colored lashes and bringing on my own creativity with each set I do. I am the most proud of all the creative sets I have done and my improvement on techniques for tiny tattoos. I think my personality sets me apart from others. I have the ability to adapt and relate myself to others, creating a special bond with each of my clients.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Social media is helpful but can also be your worst enemy. Do not compare your work to others. Keep practicing and even do model sets to prefect your craft. I wish I knew how to market myself better in the beginning so I can grow even faster within the industry.
