Life & Work with Jeanee Crane-Mauzy of Park city

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanee Crane-Mauzy

Hi Jeanee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up between the beaches of southern Connecticute and the mountains in New Hampshire with the frequent trips to New York City. I am the 4th generation of skiers in my family. We moved to Park City in 2011 when I was in highschool to pressure my up and coming professional ski carer. Now 14 years later I am a strong member of the Park City and Wasatch back culture. I still compete in World Cup Halpipe Skiing, and run a foundation called MoCrazy Strong Brain Injury Foundation. We support brain injuries survives, through creating opportunities, education, public awareness, and policy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have had a few injuries including two concussions and a variety of knee problems resulting in a large meniscus and ACL reconstruction in December 2023. None of that has compared to almost losing my sister Jamie to her near-fatal brain injury in 2015, and actually losing my other sister Amy to cancer in 2022. That loss can never fully heal and I always carry her with me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a co-founder of MoCrazyStrong Brain Injury Foundation. Focuses on what’s possible after brain injury by raising awareness and increasing opportunities through research, education, and programs. I am in charge of events, such as our Alive to Thrive events taking brain injury survivors back on snow for the first time after brain injury. Apres Ski we show our award-winning documentary #MoCrazyStrong. I also work on policy within Utah and federal to make sure policy supports our citizens who need it.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I listen to a lot of books when I travel. I do a mix between fiction and non-fiction some of my favorites have been Girls Like Girls by Hayley Kiyoko, Good For a Girl by Lauren Fleshman, Becoming by Michelle Obama, A Promised Land by President Obama, and I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy.

I would say my favorite podcast is ours, Life Gets MoCrazy!
