Today we’d like to introduce you to Jensen Walker.
Hi Jensen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I first picked up a camera when I got a small point and shoot digital camera for my 12th birthday. After that, I fell in love with photography and creating images. I did my first photoshoot after I graduated high school.
When I started college my original plan was to go to nursing school. After graduating with my associate’s and medical assisting degree, I took a break from school and started working at a medical clinic and have been doing that for a few years now. I haven’t had a ton of time to pursue my photography career until recently, when I realized nursing and the medical field just isn’t my passion anymore.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Getting to where I am now has been quite the experience. Photography can be a really tough and intimidating thing to pursue. Especially in a place where you feel like everyone around you takes pictures. I’ve learned that being a confidant and striving to become better each and every day is all you can do. I am still working on this, as it is so easy to compare yourself to the person next to you. But I am improving every single day. Starting a business is a lot of work, sweat, and tears (literally), but it is so so worth it! Follow your dreams and find people that support your dreams. Don’t give up!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer based out of Orem, Utah. I love capturing anything and everything, from familys, portraits, newborns, etc. But I think one of my most favorite things to capture is couples. The ability to capture their love story is so sweet.
One thing I am most proud of honestly is just how far I’ve come. I have made leaps and bounds over the past couple of years with my photography, confidence, and work.
Something that sets me apart from other photographers is that my main goal as a photographer is to create these moments for you to look back on forever, while still being affordable!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love reaching out to other people who can help with my business and how I can improve. It is really beneficial to ask others questions and apply their thoughts and ideas to your own work. This really helps and shows me where I can improve and how I can run my business more efficiently.
