Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Pickett.
Hi Jessica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In the bustling heart of New York City, my husband and I embarked on a journey that would shape the next decade of our lives. We decided to open our own tattoo and skincare studio, an unconventional combination that intrigued us. Little did we know that our venture would become an inseparable part of our story.
For ten incredible years, our studio thrived. We watched it grow, evolve, and become a haven for those seeking art and self-care. The fast-paced, ever-changing environment of New York was a perfect backdrop for our innovative approach to tattoo and skin care. Our clients came from diverse backgrounds, and each appointment brought a unique, inspiring story.
Then, in the early months of 2020, a formidable force named COVID-19 descended upon us. The pandemic changed life as we knew it, forcing us to make some tough decisions. With a heavy heart, we realized that the city we loved so dearly had transformed, and it was time to adapt. After much contemplation, we decided to uproot our lives and move across the country, first for a few months to Florida and then to settle in Utah.
Utah welcomed us with open arms, offering a different pace and a unique set of opportunities. It wasn’t long before we started rebuilding our clientele, taking in the serene beauty of our new surroundings, and allowing the experience to inspire us. We realized that our industry, like any other, could benefit from fresh perspectives.
Over the next three years, we immersed ourselves in the local scene, understanding the needs and desires of our Utah clients. It was then that a grand idea took root in my mind – to redefine the tattoo and skincare industry. We saw a chance to create a harmonious blend of art and wellness, emphasizing not just the aesthetics but also the holistic experience.
With that vision, we embarked on a new journey, launching a groundbreaking studio that fused the worlds of tattoo artistry and skincare uniquely. Our studio wasn’t just about tattoos; it was about self-expression, self-care, and self-discovery. Clients walked in seeking more than ink; they desired a transformative experience.
The journey from the bustling streets of New York to the serene landscapes of Utah was transformative for both our business and ourselves. It reminded us that adaptability and a willingness to innovate are vital in any industry. As we opened our doors to a new chapter, we carried the spirit of New York with us, and it became the foundation upon which we built a groundbreaking, vibrant business in the picturesque landscape of Utah.
Our story was one of resilience, adaptation, and unyielding passion for our craft, ultimately redefining what tattoo and skincare meant to our clients and to us.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening a new business while raising a family of 8 kids is never smooth sailing. It has taken heart and determination to get to where we are.
After many months of preparation, paperwork, business pitches, and construction setbacks, it seemed as if the opening day would never happen. But we adapted, rented out other locations, and pushed through until we got the green light to open!
