Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan And Christa Nu
Hi Jonathan and Christa , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are Jonathan and Christa. We met in Houston, Texas in 2012, and 2 weeks after meeting each other, we ran to Las Vegas and got married. We bounced around and traveled from the get go. Both enjoying being on wheels, whether it was bike life in Atlanta, Car meets, or off-roading on quads and dirt bikes, we both share the passion of adrenaline. In early 2014 we purchase a 1995 Tiffin Allegro to hit the road and explore, before that we were looking at sailboats to sail the seas. Neither of us saw the need to buy a house with how much we travel, hindsight we could have a nice residual rental now. We took Ally the Allegro, (we name all of our “toys”) West, without a definite destination. We ended up in Woodland Park Colorado and fell in love. We met an incredible couple, Bob and Kathy, who introduced us to something called workamping, you work for an rv Park for a few hours in exchange for your site. The park we stayed at was adjacent to the national forest, and we were out there daily, whether it was on dirt bikes or a good 4X4, having picnics and getting ourselves unstuck from pickled situations we intentionally got in. We decided that summer if we were going to continue living out of an RV, we needed something with slides, and we made the trek back to Georgia to find out travel trailer, Zoey. That’s when the adventures really started rollling in. We started our YouTube channel as “The Numads” to document where we were going and what we were doing for our families. Those videos are still on our channel, they’re nostalgic. In 2022, we went to Costa Rica and the moment we picked up our rental car, which was an awesome Jimny, we decided to re-brand our YouTube channel to incorporate our Offroad adventures, and changed our channel name to Offroad Diaries. We’re now a fresh family of 3, plus our dog, with our motorhome Fancy just living life as best as we can, sharing what we love with our subscribers.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No road is ever smooth, or easy, no matter what people tell you. Making a commitment to post consistent content is really hard. You capture the content, keep it organized, put it into your editing software, spend hours editing, then upload it, with all the other nuances in between. A lot of people give up, because of the amount of work, but if you keep going, you can reap the rewards.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Since we learned about workamping, we have had the opportunity to work at a variety of rv parks and seasonal jobs, all over the country. These jobs all lead us to our current career, where we operate our rv Park, Aspen Grove RV Park, in Tremonton, Utah. We built the park from the ground up, our initials are engraved in one of the concrete slabs, and we’ve made it what it is today. We celebrated our grand opening in May of 2019, and have since been recipients of 4 national awards. When we are not at Aspen Grove, we’re still traveling, mostly boon-docking, enjoying adventure, and capturing our Offroad moments for our YouTube channel Offroad Diaries. We both have side by sides, and mainly enjoy ripping the sand dunes at places like Little Sahara in Utah, St. Anthony’s Idaho and Glamis California. We also enjoy exploring trails and rock crawling, our favorite riding place in Utah is definitely Sand Hollow because it has a little of everything.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
We’re really inspired to work with others, other YouTube channels, other RV parks. The more you network yourself and build relationships, the farther you can go. The YouTube world isn’t kind or easy, but if you have an army behind you, and you don’t give up, it doesn’t matter.
