Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Lake.
Hi Kiana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My whole life I have spent creating things with my hands. I am a very creative and hands-on person. Even as a young girl I would try to sell things on the corner of the street or to my classmates. In 2018 I started my first business (Reece & Co). That is what really sparked my love for being a small business owner and creating things people love. I fell in love with the idea of creating a community of people who all love the same thing.
During the pandemic, my family loved playing pickleball together. It was something we could all do outside. All of our paddles were ugly and I hated that. I had the idea of making cute aesthetic pickleball paddles that are still high quality. So I went to my brother Colby with the idea and we got to work immediately. it took a long time to perfect the prints and quality of our paddles.
We officially launched LUXE in January of this year! We have been growing VERY fast. It is hard for us to keep our paddles in stock. Which is a great problem to have. We love our LUXE family!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Supply chain issues with the pandemic definitely made things hard. It slowed down the process a lot. We have also had a big shipment of paddles get lost which is a huge hit to our small business. However, we have an amazing community that supports us and our products. our paddles sell out very fast! so keeping inventory in stock is a great problem we have!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At LUXE my role is to manage social media and help create designs for our paddles and new marketing campaigns.
One thing that sets LUXE aside from other companies is our community. We recognize that without our customers and community we would not be successful. Instead of sending PR packages to lots of influencers, we like to send PR to our customers! It is our way of supporting the people who support us.
LUXE is also known for bringing cute pickleball equipment to the market. All of our equipment is high quality and looks good. I am most proud of how quickly we have grown. I am proud of the community we have built! we love our LUXE family
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Colby and Rylee Stoker my brother and sister-in-law who own the business with me. They put so much time and effort into LUXE while raising a baby.
They are the behind the scenes of the business and make sure everything is running smoothly. Someone who also has pushed me to grow out of my comfort zone is Tyler Stillman a professor and Southern Utah University. He always believed in my potential and gave me the confidence I needed to start a second company.
