Life & Work with Lizbeth Madrigal

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lizbeth Madrigal.

Lizbeth Madrigal

Hi Lizbeth, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I never thought I would be working in this industry. Dreams do come true. Before graduating high school, cosmetology school was always something sitting in the back of my head but I was determined to go to college and study criminology. My goal was to become an FBI Agent and when I started watching the show Criminal Minds, I knew it was for me. But God had other plans, school just wasn’t in the plans in the moment.

But I still wanted to do something, to be something. I kept circling the idea about going to cosmetology school and researching schools in the area, but I always pushed it off and thought it was silly. But if it weren’t for my parents always pushing me to do better and to always do something I love no matter what, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. And a HUGE shoutout to my mentor, Marisol for believing in me and teaching me what I know.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, I want to say it was a little bit of both. There were days when I was so excited to get up and go to cosmetology school and keep learning, but there were other days when I doubted myself and doubted that I had made the wrong career choice.

I always had the support going into this career but being the first in my family to go to school and have the opportunities my parents never had put a lot of pressure on me not to fail them or myself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed cosmetologist working at Salt Valley Barber Co. in the Salt Lake Area. I have worked there since graduating in 2022 and wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I absolutely LOVE doing extensions. I am certified by Prim Hair Extensions. I also love doing blondes and vivids. Another thing I love more than extensions is makeup. I am a certified makeup artist as well.

What’s next?
My goal since I started school was to get my studio but as time goes by, I’ve noticed that I like being around other artists and learning from one another. So, my goals for my future have changed, but I just don’t know what that might look like.
