Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Rose
Hi Rachel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Rachel Rose, a 25 year old Tattoo Artist. My whole life I’ve enjoyed creating art. When I was 12 I started selling, auctioning out my art, live painting at events, and donating my art to schools and the community. I started professionally tattooing at the young age of 16. At the time I was the youngest Tattoo Artist in Utah. I would go to high school during the day and work full-time after school. I spent my summer breaks tattooing many long hours often times missing out on activities with my friends. I lived in my own apartment and had a lot more responsibilities than other kids my age. After high school I continued working at a local tattoo shop. At the age of 22 I decided to open my own tattoo shop in downtown Ogden called “Sacred Rose Tattoo Sanctuary”. 3 years later in 2024 I decided to close my Tattoo shop and team up with “Legacy Tattoos” on Historic 25th St. in Ogden, where I am currently working and growing further in my career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Starting my career and moving out on my own at 16 while still attending school was a lot to handle at that age. During that time, I didn’t have a car and had to rely on public transportation or walking. This was hard during the winter. I didn’t make a lot of money because I was just starting out in my career. Once I graduated high school, things were a little better. I got a car, didn’t have to go to school and do homework, I was also more established as a Tattoo Artist. At 22 years old when I opened my tattoo shop, I had to face a lot of my fears. I was scared that I was going to lose clients, lose my support system/friends, that I would make a lot of mistakes, and I was scared it was going to be hard financially. Facing These things made me feel very lonely. I had very similar fears when closing my tattoo shop.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Tattoo Artist in Ogden, Utah. I specialize in realism, portraits, and geometric tattoos. People really like to come to me for color tattoos. I’m known for my versatility in styles/techniques I can achieve, and ability to blend styles together to create my own unique style. I only create custom tattoos, so that every client has their own one of a kind piece. I focus on large scale tattoos such as sleeves, back pieces, chest piece, etc.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, before I was a Tattoo Artist I was a very shy kid though I was never scared to express and be myself. I was often recognized for my foot long rainbow Mohawk. My parents and family have often described me as strong headed, determined, and adventurous with a “go getter” attitude. I was obsessed with dirt bikes as a young kid. I was always up for a challenge and trying new things. I would attend many art classes and art camps. When I wasn’t creating art, I loved to spend time going on hikes in the mountains and enjoying nature. My parents were DJs so I spent many of my weekends helping them DJ weddings, parties, concerts, and other various events. At 6 years old I got my first dog. Having a dog taught me to be responsible at a young age. Animals have always been a big part of my life. I grew up the first part of my life in Colorado Springs where Bunnies, Foxes, Ferrets, lizards, and other animals lived right in your yard. It was amazing. Later I lived on a farm at my grandparent’s house in Melba, Idaho and got to ride horses, care for chickens and cows. In high school I decided to join a Speech and Debate team in efforts to become less shy. It worked!
