Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie Lawrence
Hi Sadie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Photography has always been an interest of mine, I have photos of me when I was 1 year old with photos in my hand just cheesing away. I was always the one to initiate the cringe middle school “photoshoots” and basically didn’t stop doing those all the way through college!
It wasn’t until I was a freshman in college that my interest really peaked. My roommate casually mentioned that she had a DSLR 3 weeks left of the semester and I was SHOCKED she was JUST telling us when we could have utilized the camera the whole semester!!! I was obsessed and made all of my roommates go do pictures every week until the semester was done. I took that as a sign and so that next semester I signed up for photography 101!
I started taking random photos for my friends and then word got out that I was pursuing photography and it snowballed from there.
As far as wedding photography, that was my ultimate goal. I was seriously so obsessed with it. All of the pretty details and just the creativity you have with weddings and everyone is so happy!
My very first wedding was a the same year I got married, 2019!! It was for a friend from high school’s sister, and I was like don’t tell her this is my first wedding!! Like girl- she knew but I was just so excited and took it so seriously.
Now, I feel like I am living a dream!! Every single one of the weddings I have photographed throughout the years, has been so perfect and SO different from each other. I feel so incredibly lucky to not only know these amazing people but to have the best seat for these monumental moments!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not in the way I thought it would! My biggest hurdle has been taking on too much and spreading myself too thin. Only recently have I found a good balance to give the time my clients deserve!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I mainly focus on couple and wedding photography! I like to say my style is colorful, clean, and fun! I loveee color and working with the natural environment, like playing with the sky and the light. My main goal while shooting is trying to tell a story through the still photos! I like think that reflects in my work!!
Being friends with my clients is what I am most proud of! I love a collaborative environment so that initial trust is crucial to the end product and with out it, the flow and creativity of the session just doesn’t compare.
Doing things that are out of the ordinary and stepping outside of the box is truly one of the best parts of my job!
