Life & Work with Taylor Steiner of Bountiful

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Steiner.

Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a doula. How I got here starts back to when I was a teenager and I couldn’t wait to become a mother. That time came and I had a mediocre experience in the hospital. I got pregnant with my second son and decided to birth without medication, but still in the hospital. With my third, I skipped the hospital altogether and started planning a home birth. The night my water broke, I was so excited I couldn’t go back to sleep even if I wanted to. I had my baby less than two hours later on my own in my bathtub. I then attended my good friend’s birth a few weeks later and the same thing happened, the midwife couldn’t make it. Being able to support women, encourage and empower them to dig deep into their instincts and trust their bodies to do what we were created to do is a blessing. Now my goal is to continue to help women find that same power I was able to find.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’m actually surprised at how easy it was to get going. I have consults fairly consistently. My struggle is finding the balance between my own family and the new family that I am able to support and help.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a doula! I offer doula services and mentorship during pregnancy. I will chat with you, help you come up with a birth plan, walk you through the choices you’ll have to make, risks, and benefits of those choices. My goal is to ensure that you are confident and knowledgeable when you go into labor. I hope to help take the fear out of pregnancy and labor because it’s truly an amazing and sacred experience.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Flying to my grandma’s house in Colorado every summer. I loved the time I got to spend there and see her and my cousin.
