Today we’d like to introduce you to Trace Bodin
Hi Trace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started with a passion for capturing moments. Growing up, my friends and I loved action sports like skateboarding and wakeboarding; ultimately sparking many adventures. I started to document our feats and jokes, at the time with my old Handycam Camcorder that used tapes. We would all watch them together and laugh so hard it hurt! This sparked my love for capturing precious moments and storytelling which eventually inspired me to bring these skills into the business world. I wanted to help companies tell their unique stories and enhance their branding through captivating and relatable videos.
I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana and I’ve lived in Utah for 3 years now. I started Visual Production Studios when I moved to Utah and it’s been a blessing to have such a supportive community for small businesses and entrepreneurs. I stared consistently going to various networking events throughout the city and really connecting with other like minded entrepreneurs. This local support has really opened opportunities for me ,personally, and my business.
The motivation to start Visual Production Studios stemmed from my deep-seated love for storytelling. I envisioned using these talents to help businesses capture and document their significant moments and journeys. Witnessing the reactions from clients as they see their business in a new light is incredibly rewarding. Many business owners don’t realize how far they’ve come until they watch their story unfold on screen, often leading to emotional and transformative experiences.
Growing up, I worked various service-based jobs and am passionate about helping business owners create content in the industry. I ultimately noticed a gap in the industry and that many successful businesses lacked quality visual content on their websites and social media. I saw an opportunity to fill this void with organic and natural video production, helping businesses tell their unique stories and connect better with clients and employees.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth by any means. I quit my sales job in New Orleans and moved across the country away from my family and friends to start a new business, and a new life.
My biggest hurdle was overcoming a scarcity mindset and learning to trust myself. It is incredibly tough to push through the pressures and the fears of society and to continue to do what you believe in, even if it’s not paying off immediately. Learning to be consistent and persistent, changed the whole game for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently focused on creating impactful branding and customer testimonial videos for various local businesses, from local roofing companies and contractors to global outdoor brands, to help them build trust with their clients and ideal employees.
One thing that sets me apart from other video companies and videographers is that I specialize in video strategies that are effective for my clients and their goals. I spend time to understand my clients business and plan the video content around what they are most focused on. Whether it is gaining more of their ideal clients or attracting loyal employees, the content will be custom and catered to the brand.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I always wanted to be outside. I loved to skateboard and venture with friends. One of my best friends was a professional wakeboarder so I spent some time on the river, boating, and in the swamps where we had some sublime adventures. I developed a love for playing guitar at a young age and played music in a band for 6 years with some of my best friends. We had some unforgettable experiences playing music together and learned some great life lessons at a young age.
I grew up in Louisiana and I have immense love for the culture and people I grew up with. I try to visit my family and friends in Louisiana a few times a year.
