Life & Work with Whitney White Kozlowski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney White Kozlowski.

Hi Whitney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Beau Collective swung open its Park City doors in 2015 as a fitness and social hub for locals to challenge themselves physically, evolve themselves internally, and enjoy themselves socially. The goal was to fuse hard workouts with local hospitality; cementing camaraderie in a positive environment.

As a female owner, I was determined to disrupt the landscape in Park City and make fun of fitness in ways that were new to all. I worked as an instructor and hotel concierge and wanted to fuse the two; HIIT workouts & hospitality essentially. I knew how to bring people together and pull out the best in them. I kept it fun and light-hearted, I eliminated typical gym speak and inserted wordplay and innuendos.

I collaborated with competing gyms and I opened up retail accounts that have nothing to do with workouts, I stocked beers and wine in the fridge and brought donuts in for weekend classes. None of this was the norm in the market- and I loved the spirit that is curated. Delivering an experienced class after class and day after day was our differentiator.

I drafted the details on a cocktail napkin one night in 2014 and then worked passionately to grow and nurture the connection of clients and the success of the company. Fitness and community are the core of The Beau Collective and we have responded to the popularity and growth year after year.

We have moved locations 5 times and it’s a testament to the way our members thrive when we are providing accountability and structure. We have moved and evolved consistently with the essential metrics of revenue (subscription model), the pace of expenses, and client/staff satisfaction.

I believe our story is compelling and successful and primes us for a great position to continue to disrupt the industry- we are just at the beginning of collectively reaching and elevating so many!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not smooth– not a journey but a JOYRIDE! Most notably the pandemic, the moves over and over, the arrival of franchises, and I lost the best friend I used to work with every day. Our views on the pandemic and growth realities differed.

She’s awesome and I miss her. I have pressed on despite disappointments because many people still surround me and propel me forward

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work life has been an ever-evolving world of connection, fitness, community building, and experience making. My favorite part is how consistently I see friends and locals and have insight into their weekly life and how much they make our life fun & light-hearted. Most Park City people would think that mountain fitness is my background- but it is not. I was a beach kid that went to school in California for communications, had a job lined up at 20th Century Fox in LA for publicity, and then worked for an events company on the 2002 Olympics.

Fitness is the most endearing fluke of my adult life- and I have met my favorite people this way. I think being a Parkite is a special bond amongst locals that we get to live daily where others love to vacation and it’s a life full of family, activity, beauty, support, nature, safety, wonder, and community. Again, I devoted my passion/life to the community, and connection and fitness is my daily vessel. I feel like my contribution to our community is through consistency, connection, health, and value. Yes, my business is fitness-focused, but it is driven by consistent connection. I am an enthusiastic

YES, when it comes to time, money, or goods of mine that can be put to even better use by giving it/extending it to others- it brings me joy to be a GEAU-GIVER as we say. Park City is a special place because it is a magnificent balance of the small town/world-class experience almost every day. We call it all magic mountain moments. #MMM. I believe in collaboration as a core value of the Beau Collective and I have found the most enjoyment business-wise when we are folding multiple groups into what we are doing. The power of plenty is real- it’s here for everyone, bottomless activity, retail, and MMM and we just want to be a part of that and show up for that in the best way we can.

Most often it’s in a fitness capacity- we love to “make the heavy light”, but we are leaning into the retail, event, and wellness worlds and I am enjoying the joyride. We are grateful for our place in Park City. That we are enrolled to keep going and to keep bringing HIIT-style happiness to this town. I believe good energy is contagious too-if you’re having fun, everyone is having fun.

Life is too short-we’re not here for a long time, we’re just here for a good time!

How do you think about luck?
“The hard work puts you where the good luck can find you.”

Life motto!
