Today we’d like to introduce you to Alen Kantarevic. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Alen Kantarevic is a real estate entrepreneur, distinguished as a top-producing Real Estate Agent and visionary leader in Utah. Born in war-torn Yugoslavia, Alen’s journey to success is one that embodies resilience, determination, and an unwavering spirit.
At a young age, Alen was brought to the United States as a child, seeking refuge from the turbulent circumstances back home. His transition to a new country presented numerous challenges, including adapting to a different culture and starting afresh. As amazing and badass as this all sounds, when you ask anyone about Alen, it isn’t his accomplishments that come to mind. It is his spirit and the way he touches the hearts of those around him. What stands out the most is the extent to which he goes out of his way to help others. If you know Alen, you know if he is not at his office working endless amounts of hours, he is spending quality time with his significant other and two beautiful kids at home. However, he somehow creates time to help anyone who needs it.
Alen is known for dropping everything he is doing to lend a listening ear, a helping hand, and even a shoulder to cry on. Regardless of his accomplishments, though, Alen treats every interaction with the utmost importance. He is a leader not because of the number of deals he’s done, but because of the number of lives he’s changed.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Success is never a smooth road. There’s been a lot of ups and a lot of downs throughout the journey, having said that, it’s those moments that it was the hardest, that mentally prepared me for what was to come… So many times, when I felt like, “why am I even doing this?”
I would take a moment to reflect on where I came from and what my parents had to sacrifice in order for me to have a better life than they had, coming from a war-torn country and being in a refugee camp for 16 months.
I can go down a list of struggles I had to overcome, from bringing on board the wrong people, to theft, the list goes on and on… nevertheless, I never gave up, even when I was on the brink of failing, I still showed up every single day in order to prevent that from happening.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about UVO Group and UVO Agency?
UVO Group is a real estate company/team that I co-founded with my business partner, Fernando Petty, in late 2019. Prior to that I was a top individual agent at Century 21 Everest and was on the number one team in the Rocky Mountain Region and I was the top agent on that team for four years.
Then after that, branched off the team and partnered up with Fernando we started our own team, and within the next 12 months, became the fastest growing team in the state of Utah; we were all over the magazines, Fox 13 TV contract, went from 1 agent, to over 25+ agents within the first year. It was such an amazing come-up story, where literally the year before all of this played out, I went through the most difficult time in my life where everything came crashing around me (personal life, health, and work), but I stuck with it and decided that “I rather risk it all than play it safe.” Failure was never an option.
Part of our team focuses on residential real estate and another part focuses on commerical real estate here in Utah. I feel like what sets us apart from a lot of different teams and companies is that we come from absolutely nothing and had to carve our own path to success in the industry without anyone holding our hands through the process, without any loans, without trust funds, we had/have grit like no other, and failing is just not an option, our only option was/is to succeed.
From the beginning, we told ourselves that we wanted to represent Utah to the fullest and offer that first-class experience which is why we named our company UVO, which stands for Utah’s Very Own. When people think about Utah, we want them to think of us.
In addition to that; in late 2020 launched UVO Agency, co founded by Fernando Petty, Daniel Bru and myself, the three of us did such an amazing job marketing for UVO Group that other companies began reaching out to us to help them with marketing, and shortly after that UVO Agency was born.
Where we work with multiple companies not only in the real estate space, but also in the construction space, film/media, health/fitness just to name a few, and focus on scaling their companies to six figures monthly, by strategic target marketing. No job is too little for us and no job is too big for us, our mission is to serve those around us in order to show them what is possible and to reach unimaginable heights.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would have to say my heart, my drive, and my grit. I’m just an average guy who always aspired to be successful at a very early age. Grandpa was killed in front of my grandma’s condo, where we were hiding during the war, right after he brought us food. Dad was a prisoner of war. Then, spending 16 months in a refugee camp. Living in welfare housing upon coming to the U.S., I watched my parents work two or three jobs constantly, and I just wanted a better life for myself and those around me.
My purpose in life has always been to be a person of substance, of value, of genuine love and care. I want nothing but the best for my family, my friends, and all of those around me. I feel like I was put on this earth to make a difference, to make an impact, and to show others out there that anything is possible, and I just want to be that example where people can point their finger and say, if he can do it, with everything he’s gone through, then they can too.
