Hi Alexia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as a hairstylist began in 2017 when I started my career in the hair industry — I’ve been behind the chair ever since. I got my start with an apprenticeship, where I learned the craft hands-on and fell in love with doing hair. Since then, I’ve continued to grow my skills and clientele, and today I rent my own suite at Vara Studio Salons, where I offer a personalized, one-on-one experience for my clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Building a clientele has been one of my biggest challenges, and it’s something I’m still actively working on. Before I even graduated from beauty school, I decided to go back to school to pursue nursing, and I’m currently in nursing school working toward my BSN. Balancing both paths hasn’t always been easy, but going out on my own has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and my career — it’s challenged me and helped me grow in the best ways.

I’m a hairstylist operating out of my private suite at Vara Studio Salons. I specialize in blonding, bronding, and enhancing my clients’ natural beauty, and I’m known for my haircuts. What sets me apart is my ability to hold space for my clients — I truly listen, and we share the vision of their dream hair together. I’m most proud of creating a welcoming, personalized experience where clients feel heard and leave feeling like the best version of themselves.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Instagram has been huge for sharing my business and connecting with clients. I also use ChatGPT to stay organized and spark creativity, and I love self-help podcasts and books for personal growth and staying motivated.
