Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisa Monson.
Alisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My first experience with interior design was when I was 8 years old and my parents let me decorate my room for the first time; I’ve been designing ever since. I received my degree in Interior Design while pregnant with my first child. While raising my children, I enjoyed creating beautiful homes for our family as well as doing a lot of consulting work for friends, neighbors, and extended family. I’m even more in love with designing beautiful spaces than I was then. My kids are all adults with their own lives now which gave me the time I needed to make my dream of an interior design business a reality.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a full-time mom took me away from intense involvement with design for a while and getting back up to date on trends took careful thought and study. 27 years after I began my college studies, I was able to return to school to earn a degree in business. Being an independent design firm comes with its own challenges. My degrees in business and design and my determination to succeed helped me launch myself into a career I love.
We’ve been impressed with WHD Interiors, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Through my three main service packages, I put you in control of your project. Designer By Your Side helps guide you to the best path for your design journey. My signature service, Designer For A Day, gives you an entire day to process your ideas and begin to make them a reality. With Simply Design, I guide you through the process of a large design project, breaking it into less intimidating pieces. WHD is all about helping people create the spaces they want to see in their homes. With a clear focus on you, as the client, I aim to curate ideas to help you feel excited to say, “It’s good to be home.”
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Understanding a client’s goals is crucial to the success of any project. As I listen carefully to a client and determine their needs, I curate a design specifically for them.
