Meet Anahi Cruz

Hi Anahi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Anahi, I’m a Freelance Makeup Artist, I started doing makeup since last year.

I would like to tell you the story of how I started to like this career.

12 years ago, during my adolescence, I did makeup and hairstyles to friends and family, I started  doing it as a hobby, and they liked my job, and the same they motivated me to study Cosmetology, and with the time, I decided to study during high school,  Cosmetology. I was studying for a while, but after graduating from high school, I couldn’t continue my studies. I had to work to support myself and a few years later, I became a mother and my priorities changed. Later with the time I formed a beautiful family with my husband.

Although I did not study anything for several years. As time went by, I learned that it is never too late to achieve your goals, it is all about what you propose. Everything comes with time, and so it happened, I had the opportunity to study Makeup Artistry at Tylor Andrews Academy and be certified, and I achieved thanks to the help and great support and of my husband, he always believed in me and what I can achieve, and I’m very grateful with him for supporting me in my goals.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy at all, starting this path and starting a small business, and getting people to believe in you to give you the opportunity to know your work is not always easy, I have the need to promote my work by myself and make it known through social media and recommendations of clients.

I have to go a long way, I have to be patient because it takes a long time to grow a business  and same time I have to be persevering, and  believe in myself, encourage myself and fight for what I want in life.

Because in life I have learned that things are not obtained by themselves, it takes

a lot of dedication, effort and work so that you can achieve your goals. The life is not easy, as human beings one goes through many things, but there is learning to excel in spite of everything, even if

in society tell you negative things like” you can’t” , “you don’t have experience”, or ” it’s too late to achieve your dreams.”

And it’s not like that, one has to get up and move on, because one knows oneself and what one can achieve, it’s just a matter of proposing and doing it.

And that’s what I’ve done, I’ve learned to accept opportunities to get ahead.

I work independently in Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding areas. I go to clients’ homes or locations to do their makeup.

I do makeup for any occasion.

• Special Events

• Portraits

(Graduation, Maternity, Engagements, & Bridal Pictures).

I love using makeup to enhance the natural beauty of a person.

What makes me different is that I like to do my work in the best way and I take care to the details of what my clients expect, so that they feel beautiful, comfortable and happy on their special day.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Yes, I want to say to each person who has a small business, or is planning to start one, I can tell you ,that if is in your possibilities keep going, do not give up, there are very talented people and I hope the people in the community give to them the opportunity.
