Meet Anthony Fossceco of West Valley City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Fossceco

Hi Anthony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, the word *witch* has held a profound resonance for me. Long before I understood its complex history or evolving archetypes, it stirred something deep within me—a connection I couldn’t quite articulate. A few years ago, I finally took the leap into the world of witchcraft, not just through books or collecting magical tools, but by immersing myself in classes, rituals, and genuine practice. But let’s rewind to the beginning.

Magic and the occult have always been a part of my life, even if I didn’t realize it at first. As a young boy, I was captivated by mystical TV shows like *Charmed* and *Sabrina the Teenage Witch*. Yet, back then, magic was presented as pure fantasy—something entertaining but entirely separate from the “real world.” It wasn’t until I grew older that I began to uncover the rich historical tapestry of people who had practiced the very crafts I’d seen on screen, using them for personal growth and empowerment. This revelation sparked a curiosity that led me to purchase my first deck of tarot cards and one of my earliest books on magic: Buckland’s *Complete Book of Witchcraft*.

Growing up in a small town in rural Wyoming, my access to this world was limited. Most of my exploration happened online or during visits to bigger cities. It wasn’t until I moved to Utah for college in 2013 that I found myself in an environment where my interest in the occult could truly flourish. Still, for many years, I remained more of an “armchair occultist,” dabbling with tarot cards and books while pursuing my degree, rather than fully stepping into the role of a practitioner.

Then came 2020—the year the world stood still. The COVID-19 pandemic forced life to pause, and suddenly, I had the time and space to delve into the mystical aspects of the universe I had long neglected. Just two months before lockdown, I visited a local occult and metaphysical shop, Cat & Cauldron, where I received a reading from one of their psychics, Ravenstone. That reading was a turning point. It revealed signs and messages I had been ignoring for far too long, and it became clear that it was time to pay attention.

Through that visit, I discovered that the shop’s owners were practitioners of Italian folk magic and witchcraft—a tradition that resonated deeply with me as someone of strong Italian-American heritage. This revelation felt like fate, offering the exact lineage of knowledge I had been seeking to integrate into my practice. That reading was the first domino in a series of events that set me on the path to where I am today.

Now, five years later, I’ve become one of the pillars of the very community that ignited this magical fire within me. As part of Cat & Cauldron, I’ve found not only a place to grow and practice but also a way to give back, helping others discover the same sense of connection and empowerment that transformed my life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has the road that led me here been smooth? Far from it. But I wouldn’t go back and change a thing, because every challenge I faced played a part in shaping who I am today. Growing up in a small town in rural Wyoming was both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it gifted me an intimate connection with nature—I could step out my front door and within minutes, be immersed in the wild, untamed beauty of the landscape. On the other hand, it often felt like living in a bubble of close-mindedness, with few opportunities to explore the “other” side of myself—the side that felt different, curious, and drawn to the unconventional.

From a very young age, I knew I was different, and apparently, so did everyone else. The other boys my age seemed to exist in a world I couldn’t quite access, and their constant reminders that I wasn’t “normal” made me feel like I stood out for all the wrong reasons. But that inability to blend in became a driving force. It pushed me to excel in the areas I cared about, to prove to myself—and to those who doubted me—that I was capable of more than they ever imagined. In a way, those early struggles became the foundation of my resilience, teaching me to embrace my uniqueness rather than hide it.

Another pivotal force that steered me toward this natural, energetic path was my mother’s health struggles. Watching her navigate chronic health issues introduced me to the limitations of mainstream medicine early on. Doctors often offered temporary fixes or medications that came with their own set of complications, but rarely did they address the root of the problem. It was frustrating and disheartening to see her cycle through treatments that provided little relief.

This experience opened my eyes to the idea that healing isn’t always found in a prescription or a procedure. I began to explore alternative approaches—herbal remedies, energy work, and the idea of treating the body, mind, and spirit as interconnected parts of a whole. It wasn’t just about alleviating symptoms; it was about understanding the deeper imbalances and finding ways to restore harmony. My mom’s journey became a catalyst for my own, pushing me to seek out a more holistic understanding of health and well-being. In many ways, her struggles taught me that true healing often lies beyond the confines of conventional medicine, in the subtle, natural rhythms of the universe.

Another profound challenge that shaped my journey was growing up as a young gay boy in the Catholic Church. From an early age, I was steeped in a belief system that told me who I was—my very essence—was sinful and wrong. The weight of that message was crushing. I vividly remember the fear and guilt that consumed me, the constant dread that I was destined for Hell simply for being myself. It’s a heavy burden for anyone to carry, let alone a child.

That internal conflict—between my identity and the teachings of the Church—left me feeling isolated and broken for years. I struggled to reconcile my truth with the dogma I was raised in, and for a long time, I believed I was unworthy of love, acceptance, or even salvation. But that pain also became a catalyst for my spiritual awakening. It forced me to question the rigid structures I’d been taught and to seek a deeper, more compassionate understanding of divinity.

Over time, I began to see that the love I was searching for wasn’t confined to the walls of a church or the pages of a doctrine. It was everywhere—in the energy of the universe, in the connections I forged with others, and, most importantly, within myself. My journey away from the fear-based teachings of my childhood and toward a more inclusive, empowering spirituality has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. It taught me that no one is inherently broken or unworthy, and that true spirituality is about embracing who you are, not hiding it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am Anthony the Witch, a professional practitioner of traditional witchcraft with years of dedicated study and experience. For over three years, I’ve been a personal student of esteemed mentors, building upon a foundation of solitary exploration and self-discovery. As a Reiki Master in the Usui/Holy Fire and Blue Fire lineages, I bring a unique blend of ancient wisdom and modern energy healing to my practice.

My services are as diverse as the needs of those I serve. From mediumship and intuitive psychic divination—using tools like tarot, oracle, Lenormand, and geomancy—to magical consultations, spellwork, and Reiki sessions (including spirit attachment releases), I offer a wide range of support to guide and empower. While I specialize in healing and spiritual guidance, I am passionate about assisting with any magical workings that align with your journey.

One of my greatest honors is my affiliation with the Temple of Hekate Apotropaia, where I help create a safe, inclusive space for practitioners of all paths to explore and embrace their beliefs. What truly sets me apart, however, is my heart. I deeply care for every client who comes to me, and my practice is rooted in a genuine desire to help, not in the pursuit of profit. I began this path to serve those in need, and that intention remains at the core of everything I do.

I never want someone to leave a session with me feeling worse than when they arrived, or pressured to empty their bank account for solutions. My mission is to bring light to those who have been overlooked or marginalized, offering guidance, healing, and hope. Whether through a reading, a Reiki session, or a magical consultation, I am here to help you reclaim your power and step into your truth.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
It’s hard to say whether luck has played a role in my life or how I arrived where I am today. But I can say with certainty that a recent string of challenges opened my eyes to the deeper reasons behind who I am and the strength I carry within me. Last fall, my eldest cat, Sven, was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma. For months, we endured the emotional and financial toll of chemotherapy treatments, holding onto hope for his remission. During this already difficult time, I became the victim of a burglary while away from home. Precious family heirlooms, irreplaceable pieces of my history, were stolen from me.

In the midst of this turmoil, something remarkable happened. The people who rallied around me—those who offered support, sacrificed to help fund Sven’s treatments, and shared resources to aid in finding the burglar—were members of the incredible magical community here in Utah. Their kindness and generosity reminded me that even in the darkest moments, there is still good in people. They showed me that compassion and connection are worth fighting for, and that we are never truly alone as long as we have each other.

These experiences, as painful as they were, became a profound reminder of why I am who I am. They reinforced my belief in the power of community, the resilience of the human spirit, and the importance of standing together in times of need. For that, I am deeply grateful.
