Today, we’d like to introduce you to Anya Shaw.
Hi Anya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My name is Anya Shaw, and I am a fashion and cosplay creator based in northern Utah. I started creating when I was diagnosed with a rare disease called CacchiRicchi and decided that I wasn’t living life to the fullest. It became apparent very quickly that there was traction for the content that I was putting out, and I was able to build a community very quickly in the first year.
For the last three years, I have been modeling for international and Utah-based companies. And wouldn’t be where I am today without my loving husband and kids. I encourage everyone out there to pursue their goals and to reflect on what is important in the long term in their lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most of my content journey has been rather smooth. I was very lucky to have my first post go viral to almost 3 million people. Which quickly accelerated the base of the community that I had started with stay-at-home moms and people with chronic illnesses.
It can always be discouraging when you create something that you’re extremely proud of, and people don’t resonate with it, so it doesn’t get liked, or it doesn’t have as many views as you wish it would. Sometimes, you want to spread a message about a very important topic, and it’s just not wanting to be received at the moment.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in fashion content and cosplay. I spend most of my time modeling for brands and making a fool of myself on the internet.
I am extremely proud that I’ve been able to go viral to over 3 million views on a handful of occasions. I am a very resilient and determined creator, which is part of the success factor.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Call it what you will, but the luck that I have received has monumentally affected my career.
I’ve been extremely lucky to have opportunities with brands like Khloe Kardashian’s Good American, Dr. Pepper, Dior, etc., and it’s 90% work and 10% luck. But I truly believe that acknowledging luck is how you become more lucky.
