Today we’d like to introduce you to Apichat Paiboonpanupong
Hi Apichat, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The story of Aroon Thai Kitchen began with my deep love for cooking and sharing authentic Thai flavors. Growing up, food was always a central part of my life, and I was inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Thailand. After moving to the United States, I realized there was a gap in truly authentic Thai cuisine, especially in Murray, Utah.
I decided to take a leap of faith and open Aroon Thai Kitchen. From the beginning, I focused on creating dishes that stayed true to Thai traditions while also emphasizing quality and freshness. For instance, we roast our own chilies to ensure the perfect balance of flavor and spice and use fresh, seasonal vegetables in every dish.
Running a restaurant is no small feat, but it has been incredibly rewarding. We’ve built a loyal customer base who appreciate the care and authenticity we put into every meal. Over time, we’ve focused on using natural ingredients like palm sugar and coconut cream to create well-balanced curries.
Today, Aroon Thai Kitchen is not just a restaurant but a place where people can experience the vibrant flavors and health benefits of Thai cuisine. It’s been a challenging yet fulfilling journey, and I’m excited about what the future holds as we continue to grow and innovate while staying true to our roots.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a journey full of challenges and learning experiences. Starting a restaurant like Aroon Thai Kitchen required a lot of hard work and perseverance. One of the biggest hurdles was establishing our presence in the local community, especially in an area where competition in the restaurant industry is strong.
Another challenge was ensuring the authenticity of our dishes while sourcing high-quality ingredients. Many traditional Thai ingredients are not easily available in the U.S., so we had to find reliable suppliers and, in some cases, adapt without compromising on flavor. For example, roasting our own chilies was a solution we developed to maintain the flavor profile we wanted for our dishes.
Staffing was also a struggle early on. Finding team members who share the same passion for delivering authentic Thai food and excellent customer service took time and effort.
And of course, like many others, we faced unexpected challenges after the pandemic. It required us to quickly adapt.
Despite the ups and downs, each challenge has taught us valuable lessons and made us stronger. These struggles have shaped us into what we are today—a restaurant known for authentic flavors and a strong connection to our community.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The restaurant industry is constantly evolving, and over the next 5-10 years, we expect to see significant shifts driven by technology, customer preferences, and a growing emphasis on sustainability. Here are some trends and changes we anticipate:
1. Focus on Authenticity
As customers become more adventurous and educated about global cuisines, there will be a higher demand for authentic, high-quality food experiences. Restaurants like ours that focus on staying true to cultural roots while adapting to local markets will thrive.
2. Health-Conscious Dining
People are becoming more mindful of what they eat, prioritizing fresh, wholesome, and nutrient-dense foods. Thai cuisine already aligns with this trend due to its use of fresh vegetables, herbs, and balanced flavors, but we may see even more customization options for dietary needs.
3. Technology Integration
The rise of AI and automation will likely streamline restaurant operations. From digital ordering and payments to AI-powered menu recommendations, technology will enhance the customer experience while improving efficiency behind the scenes.
4. Sustainability and Ethical Practices
Customers are increasingly prioritizing eco-friendly practices. This could mean more locally sourced ingredients, reduced food waste, and sustainable packaging. Restaurants will need to incorporate these values to stay competitive and appeal to socially conscious diners.
5. Expansion of Delivery and Takeout Models. The convenience of delivery and takeout will continue to grow, with more customers expecting restaurant-quality food at home. This could drive innovation in packaging that preserves the freshness and quality of dishes like Thai curries and stir-fries.
6. Fusion and Innovation
While authenticity is key, there’s also a growing trend toward fusion and creative experimentation in food. Thai cuisine, with its bold and versatile flavors, lends itself well to these innovative combinations.
As we move forward, we aim to stay ahead of these trends by remaining adaptable while staying true to our core values: authentic flavors, quality ingredients, and a focus on people. By doing so, we’re confident that Aroon Thai Kitchen will continue to thrive in this dynamic industry.
