Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Stringham.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Miriia is the second business I’ve owned with my business partner and best friend Megan. We started an online women’s clothing company back in 2017. We weren’t very fulfilled while doing this business so we began brainstorming another business plan that would bring more meaning and joy into our lives, hence Miriia was born.
A baby blessing/christening outfit company. Miriia comes from the word miracle since every baby is a miracle. Not only did we want to sell special occasion wear but we wanted to share stories of motherhood with our community. Everyone’s journey to motherhood is unique filled with a lot of joy but also pain as well. We wanted to spread the message that you aren’t alone in your journey of motherhood. We launched our business the night before we took our business to the Pinners conference. It was crazy! We had a lot of positive feedback at the conference.
We just continued to grow from there. We specialize in bundle options! You can get everything for your baby’s special day all packaged up in a special keepsake box to pass down for future generations. We design all our outfits and name each of them after a special miracle baby. We share their story on our blog.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth in some ways, and difficult as well. Before we had any product we decided to sign ourselves up for the Pinners conference. We did it to give us a deadline for when to launch our business. I’m laughing now because it’s crazy that we thought we’d be able to pull off everything within such a short amount of time. The craziest part is we did it!
We were able to get all our outfits designed, packaging made, accessories, photoshoot, and set up for Pinners the night before. We officially launched our website the night before Pinners at 10 pm. It was wild! We saw so many little miracles along the way and knew that God was helping us. For example, the day before our photoshoot the outfits arrived in the mail. We lived off a lot of faith during that time.
Between the both of us, we have 8 kids and we are very much full-time moms, running a business while being moms can be stressful at times but it honestly has given us a lot of fulfillment and joy outside of motherhood as well. We’ve always put our families first with running a business and I think our business has been blessed because of it. We’ve always had time to get everything done that we need to.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the co-owner of Miriia and I specialize in the designing of the outfits, which is honestly one of my favorite parts. I love pulling ideas from daily life, things I see in nature, online, and conversations I have with others, and can create a new outfit.
It’s so thrilling seeing your design come to life! And then when I see it on all our cute model babies it’s absolutely rewarding! I love that about I designed will be a special part of someone’s very special and significant day and then passed down through the generations. It’s so special! I also love that I’ve been able to name two of the outfits after my sweet boys. It’s been really neat to share their stories with our followers as well. The other part I love is connecting with other mothers! At our photoshoots, we do a lot of interviewing and hearing other’s stories. I love that we can share these stories with the world. I think what sets us apart is the fact that each dress has so much thought and love put into it.
It represents a special baby, their story, and a special characteristic that the baby has. For example, our William outfit is named after my little guy, with his characteristic being the protector. Not only are customers buying an outfit it’s almost like an experience. Opening up the keepsake box, seeing all the curated items instead, and then reading the beautiful story of the outfit. It’s pure joy. We had so many customers reach out to us telling us what a special part Miriia played on such a sacred day.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I’ve learned how important it is for us to have a connection. Everyone has a story. Everyone has experienced heartache as well as joy. Be more patient with others because we never know what someone is going through.
I’ve learned that through hard work, faith, and a little bit of magic you can do anything you put your mind to! Owning a business as a woman and mother is so rewarding. I’m teaching my children that they can do anything! How cool is that!
