Today we’d like to introduce you to Axel Luna.
Hi Axel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born to immigrant parents from Mexico and we moved to the US at the age of 2. Initially we moved to Los Angeles and when I was 8 years old we moved to Utah. I went to Northridge High School and later attended Weber State University. Out of school I went into car sales and quickly realized it was not for me; later I went into furniture sales and had a blast. I had a little success and decided I wanted to try and take the right steps to secure my financial future. I met with a financial advisor at the age of 19 and quickly realized that I wanted to be in the insurance and financial planning space. I started my career at 20 with New York Life and quickly excelled. I was at NYL for 4 years and my last year I was nominated by Utah business magazine for the 20 in their 20s, at the age of 23 I was the youngest recipient to receive the award that year. I was promoted to managing director for a different insurance and financial planning firm however I was there for a short time before starting my own brokerage. We have now been in business for over three years and we have grown to become a multimillion-dollar brokerage and we have a team just shy of 10 and we acquire about 100 new clients a month and are projected to be one of the largest firms in the state in the next 5 years. I am also married to my beautiful wife Morgan and we have three kids together, Brixton, Olivia, & Charlie. As a family we love to travel and spend time together.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. I feel that as an entrepreneur being able to go through the roadblocks every single day is what is required to be a business owner. We honestly just embrace the new challenges we face every single day so we can learn from them and grow stronger. We face obstacles each and everyday but it’s how you respond that matters.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Luna Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a holistic defensive planning firm. We specialize in protecting our clients assets and capital; we do this through insurance-based planning. What makes us different from everyone else is that we are an insure-tech agency and specialize in working with mostly the millennial demographic. We implement a lot of technology into all of our client experiences; essentially, resulting in an easier and faster transaction for the client. Client experience is the NUMBER ONE thing of most importance at our agency.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
We bring in 100s of new clients to our firm every single month. We have been nominated for and have won many awards. We’ve also been told by many peers in our industry that we are leading in innovation and that we are projected to be one of the largest firms in the next 5 years in the state of Utah.
