Meet Braden Rickenbach of Utah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Braden Rickenbach.

Hi Braden, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Jorgensen’s story began in 1958, when Richfield’s Western Auto Associate Store opened as a one-stop destination for automotive supplies, sporting goods, appliances, bicycles, and more. It was also the first Honda Motorcycle dealership in the state of Utah, helping transform the business into one of Utah’s earliest Honda powersports dealerships. In 1974, Jorgensen’s expanded again by purchasing Richfield’s Fundale Lanes bowling center, creating the foundation for a unique family destination combining powersports, sporting goods, outdoor equipment, bowling, dining, and entertainment.

The Sporting Goods department has been there since the beginning, offering quality firearms, suppressors, archery equipment, hunting apparel, reloading supplies, optics and advice for the community and travelers alike. We carry all the major brands, rare items and we can drop ship to qualified dealers anywhere in the country. For the past 6 years we’ve hosted an annual “Vortex Days” here at the store which as a very fun event for the community offering giveaways, raffles, prizes for kids and the best sporting goods deals of the year!

We are excited for the future here at Jorgensen’s Sporting Goods and would love to help anyone reading this with their Sporting Goods needs!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve had our ups and downs as any long term business has had. We’ve weathered bad economies, natural disasters and much more by offering a smile and our own unique blend of hometown customer service and our extensive sporting goods knowledge and network. Overall our growth in Sporting Goods and Powersports has been steady and we continue to strive for excellence in everything we do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the sporting goods manager and I handle all of the ordering for the department as well as dealing with our customers face to face to learn what it is that they need and how we can help.

I am most excited about how we’ve been able to grow a strong relationship with our customers here and abroad and how they come back to us year after year. Our customers are our friends and neighbors and often times our hunting and fishing buddies now as well.

We are very unique in that we offer a wide variety of brands and equipment that rivals a lot of the “big box” dealers around the state. A lot of times we are able to find and order stuff that they can’t find at the bigger retailers. We also offer advice and have the time to dedicate to helping our customers become comfortable with their items and how to properly use them.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe that risk taking is a part of life and that careful, calculated risk taking is what moves the business forward. We take the feedback from our customers and our own experiences into account for every decision we make, whether it’s a new brand we are picking up, a new shooting style or a even a new hunting area.
