Today we’d like to introduce you to Braylee Talbot.
Hi Braylee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I remember being described as a sensitive, yet deeply empathetic child. I think I’ve always had that natural desire to help people and make them feel better. I mean, did anyone else use toilet paper on their stuffed animals like you were giving them little casts? Haha. Looking back, I guess that instinct to care for others was always there.
I’ve also always been interested in skincare and how the skin works. I used to do little facials and face masks on my friends and family, never realizing it could actually become a career. That curiosity eventually led me to the National Institute of Medical Aesthetics (NIMA), where I discovered that I loved not only aesthetics, but also the science and medicine behind it.
When I started working for Haileigh Mason at Mason Aesthetics & Wellness, whom I am eternally grateful for… it opened my eyes to how nursing and aesthetics could work together in a way I hadn’t fully understood before. It really inspired me to pursue nursing while continuing to grow as an esthetician. I started working on my pre-nursing degree while building my aesthetics career, and although it was definitely chaotic at times, I genuinely love it. Now, I’m a full-time nursing student while continuing to grow in aesthetics, and I’m excited to see how I can combine both passions to help people feel better, inside and out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been the smoothest road, but honestly, I don’t think anyone’s journey is ever completely smooth. I struggled a lot in high school with severe depression and anxiety, to the point where I was hospitalized as a teenager. I barely graduated, and at that point in my life, I never imagined I’d go to college, let alone pursue nursing. Neither of my parents went to college, and it wasn’t something my family really talked about as a possibility. I genuinely thought school just wasn’t for me.
After taking a gap year, I decided to give myself a chance and attend trade school for aesthetics. That experience changed so much for me. I realized that I actually loved learning when I found something I was passionate about, and it made me want to keep growing.
Financially, it’s been a large challenge. My family wasn’t in a position to help pay for school, and my high school grades meant I didn’t initially have any scholarship opportunities, so I’ve had to figure out how to fund my education through financial aid and student loans while working, all on my own. Now, as a full-time nursing student and working esthetician, balancing everything isn’t always easy.
But I’ve also grown so much mentally and personally since high school. I’ve learned how to manage my anxiety, handle stress, and keep showing up for myself. I think that’s what I’m most proud of. I also wouldn’t be able to get through it without the support of my parents, even in a situation where they are struggling themselves, they provide me with a home full of love and care… which includes my soul dog Archie!
I went from someone who genuinely never thought college was possible to someone who is actively building a future I once never imagined for myself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a licensed master esthetician specializing in skin health and helping people feel more confident in their skin. My work ranges from laser hair removal and treating acne, pigmentation, and vascular lesions to microneedling, chemical peels, and advanced facials. I love that aesthetics allows me to combine the science of skin with the personal connections I get to build with my clients.
I’d say I’m known for being the esthetician who feels like your best friend, but who also isn’t afraid to be honest with you. I’m not here to sell you every treatment or product under the sun. I want to understand your skin, your goals, and what’s actually going to benefit you. Sometimes that means telling someone a treatment isn’t right for them or that they’d be better off doing something else, and I’m completely okay with that.
What I’m most proud of is the trust I get to build with my clients. I want people to feel comfortable coming to me, asking questions, and knowing that I genuinely have their best interests at heart. At the end of the day, I care more about someone’s health, results, and long-term skin journey than making a sale. I think that being able to combine my passion for skin health with that level of honesty and care is what really sets me apart.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is honestly just growing up with my best friend, Abbie. We did absolutely everything together, from going on trips with each other’s families to laying in bed for hours talking about the most random things. She was there for me through some of the hardest times in my life, and I genuinely don’t know if I would’ve gotten through some of those moments the same way without her. She’s one of those people who has been such a constant in my life, and I’ll forever be grateful for her.
One memory that still makes me smile is we would always share Christmas together. Showing off our new toys, giving each other gifts (even if it was a floss pick shaped like an animal)… and just playing for hours on end. It seems like such a simple thing now, but those little moments meant everything to us, to me. I’m so grateful I got to grow up with her, and even more grateful that I still get to have her in my life today.
