Meet Brittany Klein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Klein.

Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Alaska, and even though I would not trade that childhood for anything I knew pretty early on it was not somewhere I could live full time. I pretty much always knew I wanted to do hair. My aunt was our family hair stylist growing up and I always thought watching her work in a salon was so cool. When I graduated high school I moved across the country to Orlando, FL. I was desperate for a change in scenery and to be on my own. I studied at Paul Mitchell and started working in a salon about a year later. Paul Mitchell was an amazing experience. Everyone had big dreams of being a traveling stylist and doing big shows. I really enjoyed working in the salon. It’s crazy how quickly people can feel a connection with their hairstylist. I never get tired of making people feel beautiful while being someone, they feel comfortable enough to open up to. After Florida I moved around a lot, I lived in Vegas, northern CA, and even back to Alaska for a couple years before setting in southern Utah. I was married at the time with two small children. Southern Utah felt like home pretty quickly. It is absolutely beautiful, and a great place to raise kids. I have always wanted to be super involved in my kids’ lives, but also still do what I love. As much as I love working in a salon, I wanted something that was just mine. So, the spare bedroom became my salon pretty quickly. I eased back into it and was really only doing friends and family. But realized pretty quickly that this salon environment in my home was something a lot of people were looking for. I believe that like any spa service it should be relaxing and peaceful for the client. The salon environment can be overwhelming for some people, and also not feel very personal. I also realized my little town was growing rapidly so I decided to make it an official business three years ago. I grew my clientele slowly, especially during Covid. Now as of a year ago I am divorced and have come to rely on my business to provide for me and my two kids. I absolutely love being in home and stilling being present for my kids, but also giving my clients the one-on-one attention, they deserve! I can only hope it will continue to grow.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and no. I think for the most part just trying to decide my next step and also being present for my family is always the goal/struggle. My biggest struggle was actually pretty recently. Last year on Mother’s Day I had a stroke. It was caused by an injury and was very unexpected. My mom took me to the ER and after an MRI was told I suffered a stroke in my cerebellum. I was lucky though and don’t have any long-term health issues from it. A couple months after that I got divorced from my husband of 9 years, and the father of my two kids. I feel like the recovery from that has been the hardest thing I’ve ever been through, even though it was something that was necessary.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been a licensed Cosmetologist for almost 15 years. I own my business “Hair by Brittany” which is a salon room that is in my home. I have been doing that for almost three years now. It has been absolutely amazing having the flexibility and convenience of having my own business in my home. I specialize in all color services. I have always been passionate about hair. It can be very artistic for me. I also enjoy doing Bridal hair and being available to travel to different venues for that.
