Meet Brittney Keller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Keller.

Hi Brittney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
So I was in college and struggling honestly. I had completely lost interest in what I was going to school for in the first place. I decided to take a break and explore other options.

I had always had fun experimenting with my own hair, doing different colors and styles, etc. Plus, both of my grandmothers were hairstylists, and all my life they’d talk about how wonderful their careers were and the relationships they had cultivated with their clients.

Being creative and someone who likes talking with people and hearing their stories this all appealed to me. So I enrolled in Paul Mitchell Salt Lake City and the rest is history.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. After graduation, I was able to work at two different salons before opening my own studio in June of 2022. I’ve had both good and bad experiences and mostly good ones.

However, the struggles I’ve experienced range from that building a solid client base to toxic work environments. Fortunately, I have great friends and mentors in the industry that have helped guide and support me. Plus, my family is so amazing and has been a huge source of support for me as well.

I think that’s the key, having good people around you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a hairstylist located in the Holladay area. I have my own little studio that is located inside Liv Salons. I love balayage and blonding services. It’s definitely the service that I do the most and what new clients find me for and request when they sit down in my chair.

I’m most proud of the relationships that I have built because of my career. Both with other beauty professionals and clients. Ahhh, my clients! I literally have the best clients, they’re amazing individuals and I feel so grateful to be a part of their lives.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Ya, I obviously have mentioned quite a few people at this point.

While I have great mentors, friends, and clients my family is who I really lean on and look to for advice. They have been there for me at my highest highs and lowest lows and I’m so grateful for them.

Special shout out to my mom though, she’s my hero. I had a friend recently use the reference of me having a real-life “Molly Weasley” as my mom. And being the Harry Potter nerd that I am I completely loved that.
