Meet Cheyenne Libbi Salthouse of Holladay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Libbi Salthouse

Hi Cheyenne Libbi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Cheyenne Salthouse and I’m a vivid hair stylist at Emerald Beauty Lounge in Holladay, UT. I’m originally from Vero Beach, Florida and moved to Utah about 5 years ago to chase my dream of being on the west coast. Before becoming a hairdresser I was a vet tech for 8 years, but ultimately decided to make the switch from helping all pets large and small to helping people look and feel their best!
I believe that everyone should feel beautiful, heard, welcomed, and accepted.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
School has always been hard for me so going back was intimidating. My very first clinical in Cosmetology was extremely discouraging. I felt like I was behind everyone else. To overcome that fear, I made it my mission to do every cut and style you could think of on my mannequins. And after graduating, I really wanted to be a part of a salon that I could fit into with similar morals and was accepting of anyone. I met Bre, one of the owners of Emerald Beauty Lounge and took the leap into booth rent right out of school. With no clientele, I wasn’t growing. Thats when
I found my mentor Kenzie, the other owner of Emerald Beauty Lounge, and took a part time job assisting with her and while continuing to grow and learn until I was able to stand proudly on my own feet with my own clientele.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in vivid colors and personalized textured alternative hair cutting at the Emerald Beauty Lounge! Rainbows are my favorite and I always welcome wild/out of the box ideas when it comes to hair! Nothing is off the table. My goal is to make sure all my clients feel safe, accepted, and themselves when sitting in my chair. An appointment with me feels like hanging out with your best friend in high school and I’m doing your hair in my bathroom but now I have 2+ years of experience, the counter won’t get stained, and you don’t have to put your head under the sink to rinse. Don’t worry, your mom won’t be mad about the mess. I’m proud to be a part of the Queer community, and have also been honored to help give gender affirming hairstyles. To make someone feel like their true authentic selves with love and without judgement is such a reward.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
One of my essential qualities is integrity. I take pride in the trusting environment I create for my clients. They give me the honor and trust of doing their hair! All the hair I do, I put my whole heart into and I will continue to do so because the outcome is always worth it.
