Hi Cleber, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was a teenager, I realized that I didn’t have many memories that I could look through and enjoy those moments whenever I wanted. I just had a few photos of me as a teenager and a few of my parents and siblings.
So, when I was 22, I found some cassettes that I had recorded some audio having fun with my family and friends when I was a teenager as well; from that moment, I decided not to miss chances to take pictures and make videos to keep them as good memories and share with my family in the future. But things went too far, and later on, I got a professional camera and started taking some photos of wildlife and landscapes as well. Some friends saw my pictures and recognized that I am very talented, and they started to invite me to take pictures of families, students graduating, weddings, and so on.
Some of the epic photos were on famous magazines, websites, newspapers, and social media around the world. Now I am here, doing what I thought was something necessary only in the past, but now it’s more than that; it’s a way of life. I love this; I care about family history!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If you have a dream and you want to bring it to your world, you have to pay the price. The price might be high or low, it depends if you decide to get up from the floor everytime you think you failed. It wasn’t easy, but I can assure you that the taste of victory is enjoyable and lasts for the long term or even forever.
You can’t feel that without going through dark or stormy days. I remember people criticizing and trying to discourage me from photographing and bringing up some projects or even doing workshops to help others enjoy what I do. Hard times come to polish you like a diamond.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Now, I do some business photos promoting careers such as real estate, church assignments, artist contests, and digital marketing. Also, today, I am specialized, besides photography, in professional scanning photos and negatives and recovering damaged documents and photos. I am a video producer and director, as well as a video and audio technician.
One of the things that I am proud of is that this talent was definitely given by God, and I still use it to strengthen and keep my family history. What sets me apart from others is one thing called studies and dedication! These are the keys to the opportunity and keep me moving forward.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The digital era is moving way faster than before! We can’t sit and think so much if we want to follow up technology closely. AI is around us now, and that will be another challenge for me.
But I started “playing with this new toy.” Drones and action cameras are rolling down from the top of the mountain now; make sure we are out of the way or running down by their side.
