Meet Debbie Pun of American Fork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Pun

Hi Debbie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My first encounter with Chiropractic was after a sport injury from basketball in high school. My career did not begin until years later after seeing friends and family struggle with different chronic health conditions. I earned my Doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. While attending I played rugby for Palmer Women’s Rugby. I also spent valuable time as an intern in multiple respected chiropractic offices. One of them was a pediatric focused office where I witnessed how chiropractic can help kids with various neurological disorders; such as autism and/or other spectrum disorders. I then realized the importance of having chiropractic care starting at a young age and developed a passion to care for kiddos, pregnant mommas and families through chiropractic wellness and education. After graduation I was practicing in a family practice in Hawaii prior moving to Utah in 2021. I opened Platinum Chiropractic and have been serving the community with my amazing team ever since. I also had the opportunity to serve in multiple chiropractic mission trips over the years in Guatemala providing service to patients with limited access to healthcare. It was definitely an eyeopening experience where I got to witness the healing power of chiropractic care for the body. I am excited to serve the people in Utah County and help them achieve a higher quality of life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It sure was an interesting start due to all the complications and set-backs from covid. During our built-out we hit some roadblocks with shortages on materials and some delays in deliveries. In fact, we almost didn’t have our interior doors come in for our opening day! It was stressful for sure, but it all worked out and it’s been smooth sailing since!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in neurologically focused pediatric, prenatal and family chiropractic care. The difference between standard chiropractic care and neurologically focused chiropractic care is beyond musculoskeletal. We look beyond specific symptoms and focus in on the crucial role of the nervous system. With kiddos, primary issues that we see regularly are function related such as reflux, indigestion, constipation, or sensory issues. With pregnant mommas, we factor in all the prenatal stress and keep up with all the hormone and biomechanical changes during pregnancy, the goal is not singularly on pain relief but help baby get to the optimal position for labor and delivery

The best part is that our process is custom to each patient that comes in. Every patient gets scanned to see where in their nervous system they are experiencing subluxation or interference, and we adjust for that specific spot on that unique person. This means we get to the root of the actual issue a patient is experiencing, rather than adjusting to simply make the issue feel better for a few days. So many of our patients are amazed at how different they feel and how much real progress they make. It is absolutely incredible to be able to go on this journey and get to know each person that comes through our doors.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Our environment and process are very different from most chiropractors. Our office is kid focused – from our play area to the adjustment room and even our snack station, we have placed children at the forefront. Many families come in expecting a sterile, rigid, doctor’s appointment, but find that not only is the office a fun place to be, but the doctors are friendly and enjoy sharing their experience and listening to a patient’s stories.

Our process always starts with neurological scans that help us tap into exactly what is going on within the body. Most parents take one look at these scans and say, “this makes so much sense!” These scans allow us to take a deeper look at how the nervous system is functioning. Whenever there is interference or subluxation, symptoms don’t always show us the source. For example, one person’s neck pain could be stemming from their midback, while another is from a rotated pelvis. Because each person is unique, these scans give us a specific look at an individual person, rather than us simply using the same adjustment technique for everyone.
