Meet Diego of Pocketgainz.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego.

Diego, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up in Rexburg, Idaho, health and fitness weren’t exactly priorities in our house. We didn’t have much, so food was food — and that reality followed me into my teen years in the form of extra weight I didn’t know how to shake.
I noticed early on that my athletic friends had this magnetic confidence I couldn’t quite match. I was the funny kid — always had the room laughing — but deep down I knew I was using humor to cover up the insecurity I felt about my body.
So at 15, I decided to do something about it. I hit the gym and started my fitness journey, but like a lot of young guys desperate for change, I went about it the wrong way. What started as motivation turned into a full-blown eating disorder. I lost the weight, but I lost it recklessly.
It took years of cutting through the noise — all the contradicting advice, the bro-science, the fad diets — before things finally clicked. I discovered that sustainable weight loss doesn’t have to be miserable. It starts with changing the way you look at food and what you do with it in the kitchen.
Since then I’ve helped dozens of people lose weight, build confidence, and actually enjoy the process. The demand grew faster than I could keep up with personally, so I built the solution: PocketGainz — an all-in-one AI coach that fits in your pocket. Tailored workout programs, personalized meal plans, macro tracking through meal photos, a built-in 3D body scanner to track real-time progress, and a whole lot more.
No fluff. No gimmicks. Just real results for people who are ready to do the work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life didn’t hand me the easiest start. Growing up poor in Rexburg, Idaho, I didn’t have a lot of the things other kids took for granted — and that kind of environment has a way of pulling you toward the wrong crowd fast. By the age of 12 I was already experimenting with drugs and alcohol. What started as a way to fit in or escape became a pattern that followed me into my early teens.
On top of that I was overweight, insecure, and using humor to mask a lot of pain I didn’t know how to process. I was fighting battles most adults wouldn’t want to face, and I was doing it as a kid.
Getting out of that wasn’t a single moment — it was a grind. Fitness became my first real anchor. The gym gave me something the streets and the bottle couldn’t — a sense of control and progress. It wasn’t perfect, I overcorrected and battled an eating disorder along the way — but it was the beginning of building something real.
Those years taught me discipline, resilience, and exactly what it feels like to be at rock bottom with no roadmap out. That’s exactly why I built PocketGainz — because I know what it’s like to need guidance and have nothing but bad influences around you.

As you know, we’re big fans of Pocketgainz.com. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
PocketGainz is an AI-powered fitness coaching platform built for real people who want real results — no fluff, no guesswork, no wasted time. At the core of the experience is Pocket Trainer, an intelligent coach that lives in your pocket and works around your life, not the other way around.
We specialize in making elite-level fitness guidance accessible to everyone. The kind of personalized attention you’d normally pay a high-end personal trainer and nutritionist for — we deliver it through technology, at a fraction of the cost.
What sets us apart is the depth of what we offer in one place. Pocket Trainer provides fully tailored workout programs, personalized meal plans, and macro tracking that works simply by snapping a photo of your meal. We also offer a built-in 3D body scanner so users can track muscle gain and fat loss in real time — something you won’t find bundled into most fitness apps.
But what we’re most proud of isn’t the technology — it’s the story behind it. PocketGainz was built by someone who lived the struggle. Our founder grew up without access to proper nutrition guidance, battled weight issues as a teen, and fought through an eating disorder before finally cracking the code on sustainable, enjoyable fitness. That lived experience is baked into everything we build. We don’t just understand the fitness journey — we’ve been through the hardest parts of it.
Our mission is simple: help people change their lives by making fitness feel less like punishment and more like progress. We cut through the noise so our users don’t have to.
