Meet Dustin Bybee of Whiskey Throttle School District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Bybee

Hi Dustin , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Whiskey Throttle School District’s journey began in 2013 with nothing but a dream, a school bus, and four best friends with a passion for adventure. We affectionately named that first bus “Sandy Bus” because, well, she got us stuck in the sand on our very first trip out! Little did we know, that was just the start of an incredible ride.

We have had many adventures in Sandy including a front tire blowout at 70mph, a blown turbo, a lost mud flap, and even an encounter with the law that left Katey stranded on the side of the road with the cops – our early days were filled with unforgettable misadventures.

But it was these trials and tribulations that forged the spirit of Whiskey Throttle SD. We learned to embrace the unexpected and thrive in the face of adversity. Sandy Bus became more than just a vehicle; she became a symbol of our unwavering determination and love for off-road thrills.

Fast forward to today, and Whiskey Throttle has grown into a family-owned business with not one, but four school buses that serve as our mobile headquarters. These buses have become our homes away from home, taking us to different race and jump competitions across the country.

But Whiskey Throttle is more than just a brand; it’s a way of life. We are a family-oriented company, and that sense of family extends to our customers and fellow off-road enthusiasts. We believe in the power of shared adventures and the bonds that form on the open road.

Our mission is simple: to provide high-quality off-road apparel that reflects the heart and soul of our off-road community. Whether you’re conquering rugged terrain or enjoying a weekend camping trip, Whiskey Throttle is there to fuel your passion and keep you geared up for the ride.

Join us on this wild journey, and let’s create more unforgettable memories together. Whiskey Throttle isn’t just about off-road adventures; it’s about the spirit of camaraderie, the love of the outdoors, and the thrill of the ride.
Welcome to our family. Welcome to Whiskey Throttle.

Cheers to the open road,

The Whiskey Throttle Team

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth Road? Guess it depends on your definition. Ha Ha ha!

Being a Family Owned Apparel and Entertainment business in the crazy Offroad and Motorsports Industry has definitely had its challenges, but for us, it’s all about the ride!

Luckily we have the best team there is, both internally and externally to help with everything.
– Our Internal team consists of the (5) owners and our families.
– Our External team consists of what we all consider the Whiskey. Throttle Crew! We have been able to build one of the coolest groups of people to showcase what we are all about.

So far we have been able to handle any bumps in the road, but we prefer to call them Whoops and hit them at Wide Open Throttle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Whiskey Throttle School District?
Whiskey Throttle is first and foremost an Offroad and Motorsports Apparel Brand offering multiple items for Men, Women and Children. Our main focus is community, family and the youth who are the next generation of enthusiasts. As part of that commitment we host events, sponsor youth racers and also have a YouTube Channel featuring our crazy lifestyle. We are heavily involved in the SxS/UTV market and increasing our footprint in the Motocross community.

Located in Ogden is the Whiskey Throttle Compound where we design and make all of our own clothing. Everything we do is in house to guarantee quality products. The Whiskey Throttle Compound is also where we host our free community Pit Bike night events. We have a Pit Bike track on site and open it up to all ages and anyone who wants to come. We have had some pretty amazing Pit Bike Nights.

In 2024 we set off to do what nobody else was doing in Utah, host a SxS Race Series. After a 4 months of work, we were able to sign a contract with Utah Motorsports Campus (UMC) in Grantsville, Utah. From that, the ‘Whiskey Throttle Race Nights’ was born! UMC had a dirt track that had set format for years. The track was overgrown with weeds, was rundown and needed a lot of love! We took it upon ourselves to get the track ready. Over months of working nights and weekends the track was ready. June 7th 2024 was our first event and couldn’t have gone better! We hosted a total of 4 events in 2024, all were a huge success and after popular demand we are bringing it back for 2025. This year will be even bigger and better!

As our commitment to the Youth and the next generation, we have created the Whiskey Throttle Race Team. This team consists of adults, teens and youth. Whiskey Throttle sponsors the teens and youth and provides driving and racing education and they will be racing our Race Nights and traveling the country this year for exposure and experience.

We live such a rad life, so lucky for the family we have, and get do all this while traveling in 40′ school buses we have converted into motorhomes. We get some pretty funny looks caravanning with 3 full size school buses pulling trailers! ha ha!

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
– Don’t chase money!

– Find something you love and find a way to make it work for you.

– There is no ‘secret to making it quick’. It requires hard work, determination and most importantly consistency.

– Be moldable and pliable. Listen to consumers and the market. Your initial idea might need to be tweaked.

– Don’t wait. There is no such thing as the perfect plan. The first step is the scariest but also the most fun.

– When in doubt, Throttle Out!
