Meet Dr. Eric Cerrati

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Cerrati, MD, FACS.

Hi Dr. Cerrati, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my medical career in New York City where I had the opportunity to train with some of the world’s most elite surgeons. My training included five years at New York University in head and neck surgery followed by a facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship in Chicago. During these years, I worked closely with several experts in the plastic surgery field observing, assisting and performing the most advanced and minimally invasive approaches to facial surgery. Following fellowship, I was recruited to be the director of facial plastic surgery at the University of Utah. As the only facial plastic surgeon at the University, my operative volume was extremely demanding and included patients ranging from infants to the elderly. I remained in this position for almost 5 years before opening a solo private practice in Park City.

My practice focuses on the techniques I learned from my New York mentors: creating beautiful, natural results with the quickest recovery possible. Since moving to Utah, I have noticed the unique perspective that my training has given me. Seeing and working in offices that provide the highest level of surgical care, I am committed to achieving individualized perfection. My office staff and I strive to replicate the sought after New York facial plastic surgery experience and results.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The path in medicine is infamous for being anything but a “smooth road.” It includes sleepless nights in the hospital, 80+ hour work weeks, and missing family and friends’ life events. However, when you have a passion for medicine and helping others, these sacrifices are insignificant. Every piece of knowledge that you learn and every minute performing surgery adds to your experience in the field. These little bits add up to make the difference between good and great.

We’ve been impressed with Eric Cerrati, MD, PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My practice is limited to only facial plastic surgery, which allows for a level of expertise that cannot be achieved in a more diverse field. Commonly performed procedures include rhinoplasty (nose jobs), facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelifts), browlifts, and otoplasty (ear reshaping). Additionally, I offer the full spectrum of reconstructive procedures as well as non-surgical office-based procedures including injections. I’m most known for a very natural aesthetic, which is why every procedure is customized to each patient’s goals. I often tell patients that excellent plastic surgery should hide all traces or evidence of what was done. While at the University of Utah, I also performed a wide array of cancer reconstruction. Each year I try to travel across the globe with a non-profit organization to provide free pediatric cleft lip and palate surgery to patients whom otherwise wouldn’t receive proper care. This philanthropic work is extremely rewarding and I plan to continue this throughout my career.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I was born and raised in South Carolina. I’d like to think my calm and laid back demeanor is a result of my Southern upbringing. I completed my undergraduate degree in mathematics at Tulane University in New Orleans and my medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina.

I also manage my own social media account and have a lot of fun with it. I believe it gives perspective patients a glimpse into the practice and allows them to get to know me and the staff prior to a consultation.
