Meet Fernando Ventura

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernando Ventura.

Hi Fernando, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Many people struggle with trying to find out what they would like to pursue in their lives. I was like many others going through college trying to figure out if what I am studying was what I wanted to do. However, I took a Photography class that was required and that’s when I found my calling.

In class, we would have critiques in which people in the class would show the photos they took for the project. Naturally, as someone who is just starting any pictures, they make me feel like they are the absolute best work of art that they’ve ever seen. However, seeing how my classmates would produce even better photos than I made only fueled me to make even better photos.

With the class completed the following year I decided to purchase my first camera a Sony a6100, not too expensive and with some great qualities. I started to take more and more photos wherever I went. Soon the world entered a pandemic and I was left with more time and opportunities to take more photos.

With being stuck at home, I taught myself and learned how to use Lightroom to edit photos.

Back to the present, I am close to graduating from my University with a degree that I Might not use however, that one class that I did take changed my whole life and direction. Now I look forward to what the future holds and where my photography can take me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the struggles I did feel in the beginning was that of feeling that I was behind. I felt that while others had been taking photos for a long time and were masters at the craft I was just learning to turn on a camera.

However, I realized that people learn different things at different times and that just because many people have already become professionals at the craft many others have yet to take the first step.

My struggling with trial and error was my first step so now it’s up to me to continue taking more steps forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The work that I do is photography. I love taking photos of pretty much anything on digital and film. Professionally, I do weddings, graduate, food, and portraits.

However, as a beginning professional, I would like to take photos of other types including real estate, automobiles, and travel. In the future, I hope to specialize in Travel Photography with captures of around the world and the people in it.

I believe what sets me apart or what sets anyone apart is the experiences and the characteristics that we have. That said growing up in a small apartment and living local for most of my life has made me appreciate places I have never seen.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as a constant variable in life.

The success of one day is different from the success of the next day. Every day and every moment in our lives success means something different. The success of having a nice stable job, the success of having the opportunity to pursue your passion, the success of having your own family.

Success is the never-ending goal that changes throughout your life that pushes you towards the future.
