Meet Hallie Cook of Ephraim UT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hallie Cook.

Hi Hallie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always had a passion for nails and a deep appreciation for the art behind them. After graduating high school, I earned my associates degree but was still unsure about the career path I wanted to pursue. I entered the workforce and quickly learned that the job I was working didn’t align with my passions or long-term goals. The experience taught me a lot about myself and helped me recognize that I wanted a career where I could be creative and truly love what I do.

With the encouragement of my family and friends, I made the decision to begin my nail apprenticeship and pursue my dream. While in school, I balanced a full time job in the early mornings before heading into classes in the afternoon. It was a challenging three months, but the hard work was worth it. I completed my 375 hours of training, passed state boards, and received my Nail Technician license in May of 2023.

In the beginning, I was still learning and growing in my skills but my family and friends supported me through every stage. Many of my clients who trusted me in those early days are still with me today, and I feel incredibly grateful for their continued loyalty.

Over time, my passion for nails has grown into a career that allows me to express creativity while building lasting relationships. I am fortunate to have such an amazing clientele who not only support my work but inspire me to keep growing and perfecting my skills every day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first started nail school, I was excited but also unsure of myself. Learning a new skill came with a steep learning curve, and I often battled with confidence and self-doubt. There were moments where I questioned if I was good enough or if I would ever master the techniques I saw more experienced nail techs do with ease. Over time, I learned that confidence doesn’t come overnight—it grows with patience, practice, and persistence.

Another challenge was the financial investment. From tuition and licensing fees to quality products and tools, every step required commitment and sacrifice. There were times when it felt overwhelming, but I reminded myself that I wasn’t just spending money—I was investing in my future and a career I truly wanted.

Once I graduated, the next obstacle was quitting my full time job and building a full clientele. Starting from scratch is never easy, and it took time to gain trust, build relationships, and establish a steady flow of clients. I relied on word-of-mouth, social media, and, most importantly, the support of the people who believed in me from the very beginning. Slowly but surely, my clientele grew, and with it, my confidence and sense of purpose.

Looking back, the challenges were not setbacks—they were stepping stones. Each obstacle taught me resilience, dedication, and the importance of believing in myself even when doubt crept in. Today, I am proud not only of how far I’ve come, but also of the strong foundation I built through those struggles.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a nail technician, I specialize in creating beautiful, customized nail enhancements that bring out each client’s personal style. I focus on clean application, long-lasting results, and designs that feel both creative and wearable. Whether it’s a timeless, natural look or hand drawn detailed nail art, I pride myself on tailoring every set to fit my client’s lifestyle and personality.

What I’m most known for is my hand drawn nail art, attention to detail, and the client experience I provide. I want every person who sits in my chair to feel comfortable, cared for, and confident when they leave. My clients appreciate not just the nails themselves, but also the consistency, reliability, and professionalism they know they can count on.

One of the things I am most proud of is the loyal clientele I’ve built from the very beginning of my journey. Many of my clients have been with me since nail school, and that ongoing trust and support means the world to me. It reminds me daily of how far I’ve come and why I love what I do.

What sets me apart is the combination of my artistry, my commitment to growth, and my dedication to client relationships. I don’t just see nails as a service—I see them as an art form and a way to make people feel more confident in themselves. My goal is always to go beyond just “doing nails” and create an experience where every client feels valued, seen, and excited to come back.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My success as a nail technician isn’t just my own, it belongs to my amazing clients, family, friends, and mentors. This past year has brought some life altering challenges and unexpected changes, yet my clients have shown patience, support, and loyalty through it all. My family, friends, and mentors have continued to encourage me, reminding me why I chose this career. Because of the amazing people I have in my life I get to do what I love every single day, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
