Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Woodland.
Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After my mother died in my arms at the hospital on January 1st, 1998, I decided to go all-in on my education and my understanding of the world. I wanted to learn about all things financial in general. I spent countless hours reading books, talking to professionals, and studying courses about it. At one point in the late ’90s, I would go to restaurants where business professionals and stockbrokers would be and I would ask to sit next to them so I could listen to their conversations about business and investments. It was there I learned about a couple of small-cap stocks I did heavy research on to ultimately turn $700 into over $25k.
From there I made many different investments. I won some, and lost some in the investment world overall, ultimately making some good long-term decisions and learned a ton of amazing lessons. I spent most of my life either running my own businesses and working in sales positions. Doing both has taught me a great deal about the world of business and business ownership and how to effectively run a business.
As a young man, my sister and I were sent to live with our Grandparents while my mother was trying to heal from her alcoholism. We were in elementary at the time. We lived with them for about 6 months. My Grandfather was a strictly business type of guy who was a former VP of Marketing for Conoco Oil in Dallas/Fort Worth. He taught me a ton as a youth, most of which was how to read tough books, critical thinking, money, and of course hard work.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road of life, in general, is never really smooth per se. Some struggles I’ve dealt with are many in number throughout the years. The loss of my mother at a young age is one of the biggest ones. Although the road of life isn’t smooth all the time, I spend most of my mental energy doing my best to think positively, and to try to help as many people as I possibly can. I never lose sight of the most important things in life. Family, friends, and fun experiences with others.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Woodland Advisors, LLC?
Woodland Advisors, LLC is a life insurance, disability insurance, retirement planning, and business consulting firm. I heavily specialize in all things life insurance. I do a lot of advanced planning for business owners regarding their buy-sell agreement funding using life insurance and key person insurance. I also work with individuals and young families to make sure they have the protection they need. Alongside of that Woodland Advisors, LLC also does business consulting and mentorship. I am proud of my brand because it is all about helping people and always keeping their needs in mind first and foremost. I never recommend a product or service unless it is the absolute best thing for my clients. If they have a need that I don’t specialize in, I simply refer them to a trusted source that does. I never sacrifice my honor or integrity for a dollar.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
My definition of success is by helping as many people as I can. To be a guiding light to those who are having a tough time, and to share a positive or encouraging word.
