Meet Jefferson Olla of JDO’S TOWING

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jefferson Olla.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Jefferson Olla, I’m originally from El Salvador.

I had always had an interest in cars some of my past jobs have been on some dealerships as a mechanic, and what I notice working there and talking with an acquaintance back then there weren’t that many towing companies in Utah County, and I really thought it was something I can see myself doing but I also knew it was something I couldn’t do alone. So I brought the idea to my brother, Christofer to see if he will join me on this project because I was very confident that he won’t say no, we do share the same love for cars, of course, he said yes!

That’s how we both got embarked on this journey, where we started with a tow truck that ended up being a bad buy, we had to invest double the money of what we paid for it and fix it by ourselves with so little knowledge but always eager to learn. Jdo’s towing also begins with the urge of success and to have something of our own and be able to one day reach our American Dream.

Jdo’s towing is still a small company, we currently have 2 tow trucks running and 2 in the making. We are working really hard to one day become a very successful business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been an easy road, it was a challenge since the beginning. We were deceived by the person who sold us the tow truck because he told us the truck was ready to work. We tried to take the truck to a shop to do a general inspection but no one was available at the time.

We asked the seller for a few more days to have the truck inspected before we made a deal but he said no he argued that there were more people trying to buy it. We felt the pressure and thinking we were getting good deals we decided to buy it just to later find up the truck need a lot of work done to get out on the streets and ready to work. Right after 3 months of being on business the unexpected happened, our tow truck caught on fire, it happened on the morning of New Year of 2019.

It was hard and tragic to see our dreams turn into ashes in a matter of seconds. No full coverage insurance and not enough savings to start all over again we really thought it was over. It took us almost a month to realize that we couldn’t just give up like that, we had to do something. We bought another truck in no working conditions, we used some of the salvage parts we had from the burned one to fix the new one, I remember working every single day in any weather conditions to get the truck fixed and be back on the road again.

We know that God is in control of our life and this was only another obstacle that he had for us to overcome. Being in this industry is not easy, you really have to work hard, there were people we thought had our backs but they ended up turning their backs on us. Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up, with goals so strong that obstacles, failure, and loss act as motivation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a family own towing company, we do roadside assistance, tire services. We are here to help the community to make sure they can have peace of mind we will do everything in our hands to assist when they need it.

What do you think about happiness?
God and family are our happiness, also I get to do what I love for a living, yes, sometimes there are struggles but, at the end of the day, I know I was there when somebody was needing help.
