Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Rivers.
Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We were founded by Brandon and Blake Barkdull in 2016. Blake was diagnosed with brain cancer and the brothers were looking for ways to focus on something positive.
They began brainstorming ideas for something they could create together, and Penguin Brothers were born. We are passionate about what we do and we love connecting with our community through our catering events.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Aside from Blake’s health, the company had just started to get on its feet when covid hit. But we managed to grow little by little because most of our customers are weekly regulars and have become a part of our Penguin family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I love about Penguin Brothers is that we are a group of close friends working together, and having fun building something. We get to experiment with flavors, decor, and event ideas.
We are able to work side by side and have fun while doing so. We are passionate about what we are doing and enjoy being a part of such special memories like first dates, engagements, weddings, etc. The team we have built has been together for years.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Honestly, the brothers felt like they had nothing to lose, but are proud to have bootstrapped this company on their own from the beginning.
