Meet Joel German

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel German.

Hi Joel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started playing with Jeeps at the ripe age of 17! As you can imagine I did my fair share of stupid things. I’ve had to perform many trail repairs and get myself out of trouble more times than I care to admit.

In 2009, I started in the Towing and Recovery Industry and immediately found a passion for recovering vehicles.

About 7 years ago a local group called the Utah Off Road Recovery Team was formed and I was immediately sucked in! With all the challenges associated with this group and getting all of our members on the same level, I found a passion for teaching Offroad Recovery!

Legacy Offroad Recovery Training has formed about 4 years ago, we host classes in the Spring and Fall. For the last few years we have been training at a location in Salt Lake City, this Fall we have moved to a new location in Tooele Utah.

We offer 2 classes, 101 Intro to Offroad Recovery and 102 Next Level Recovery. Both classes are all hands-on and about 6 hours each!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been easy! Convincing people to come to stand in a field and listen to me talk and play with recovery gear has been challenging to say the least.

Thanks to our amazing offroad community and our persistence in keeping people safe we have developed a good reputation and continue to grow!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been in the Towing and Recovery Industry since 2009, I spent the first 8 years of my career in a Tow Truck. I Specialized in Heavy Duty Towing, Semis, Dump Trucks, Tankers, etc. with this I attended Multiple Training Schools and was awarded Student of the Class in my Wreckmaster course.

In 2017, I jumped to the other side of the Industry and started selling Tow Trucks for a local distributor that has been in business since 1978

Any big plans?
Like any small business, we will look forward to growing! Hopefully, someday we can purchase a property and turn it into a dedicated location for training with a small building so we can teach year round!

Pricing:

  • Intro to Offroad Recovery $100 per person
  • Next Level Recovery $100 per person
