Today we’d like to introduce you to Joi Worwood.
Hi Joi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I hold a deeply rooted love in my heart and soul for energy work and for the ancestors who practiced before me. On my mother’s side, I am of Japanese descent, born from a lineage of healers (Light) and Samurai (Warrior). From this union, Light Warrior was born.
From my father, I inherited Native American ancestry, which I also cherish deeply and is a big reason my healing sessions take place in a tipi. I honor both sides of my heritage by weaving their wisdom, reverence, and authenticity into every aspect of my practice.
Since childhood, I’ve been fascinated by the power of healing and energy. I was especially inspired by the stories of Jesus Christ; how through simple, loving touch, He brought healing and peace. Even as a child, I felt a calling to do the same.
For many years, I was hesitant to share my passion for Reiki, as energy healing was not yet widely understood or accepted in Western culture. But as awareness has grown, I’ve embraced my purpose with confidence.
My mission is to bridge the gap between spirituality, energy, and if you are called to it, religion. Not only can they coexist, but that together they create a more whole, powerful, and connected way of being
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In theory, the journey has been smooth, as I’ve always naturally embraced these practices as part of my lifestyle. The greatest challenge, however, has been learning to release the weight of others’ opinions, their naivety, skepticism, or misunderstanding. This was especially present in my church community.
A pivotal moment in my path came during my time working as a massage therapist at a large resort in Ojai, California. If you’re unfamiliar with Ojai, it’s a place where holistic and spiritual practices are not only accepted but celebrated as part of the local culture. While there, my passions were met with openness and validation, and I found myself surrounded by others who shared and even expanded my understanding of healing. It was in Ojai that I truly began to trust in my gifts and step fully into my role as a healer.
Since then, I’ve learned to articulate that Reiki isn’t a form of worship, but a technique for restoring balance to the energetic body. As with all things, intention shapes the experience. In my practice personally, I channel the light of Christ—embodying His unconditional love and healing energy.
As you know, we’re big fans of Light Warrior Natural Healing. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
As previously mentioned, my family were healers (light) and Samauri (Warrior).
From my father I inherited Native American ancestry.
My practice is not only deeply rooted in my being and who I am, but it has been deeply rooted back generations in my family line. My practices come from a place of full embodiment and are and always have been a way of life for me. I strive to bring authenticity while honoring the culture surrounding the source of each technique and practice; something I feel is becoming more precious in this digital age.
I care deeply for each of my clients, and honor their own spiritual journey. We are all in different phases of our journey, and I find this diversity beautiful. I truly strive to make everyone from all beliefs feel supported, loved and accepted no matter where they are on their path.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in the foothills of Northern California, homeschooled for most of my life in what would now be considered a Montessori style upbringing. My days were filled with imagination and freedom, running barefoot through our forest home, picking fruit from the trees, building forts, and gathering wildflowers. One day I was a pirate or Peter Pan, the next a fairy, Tarzan or Tom Sawyer. I spent hours sketching, writing picture books, playing with my pet goat, and collecting eggs from the chicken coop.
These experiences would sometimes include one or more of my 8 siblings. And we would always go blackberry picking as a family and take hikes along the rivers near our home. My childhood, though not perfect, was truly magical and I feel incredibly blessed for the life my parents gave me. They always encouraged me to form my own beliefs, to cultivate my imagination and to “find my own way of doing things”
