Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Hoover.
Hi Katie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Just over two years ago, I became a certified Sound Bath Practitioner, through the Meditate: School of Mindfulness and Sound to facilitate group sound baths and provide one-on-one sound and vibrational therapy sessions. Since then, I have been honored to share this practice with individuals and communities throughout the Salt Lake Valley, hosting group sound baths approximately twice each month. My sessions have been featured at venues including Snowbird, Synchronicities, Cactus & Tropicals, Sacred Energies, and local libraries, making these restorative experiences accessible in a variety of welcoming spaces.
Many of my group sound baths are paired with guided breathwork, in collaboration with my colleagues Marcus Pratt and Taralee Trammell. Together, these practices create a powerful opportunity to help regulate the autonomic nervous system, gently shifting participants from a fight-or-flight state into one of deep relaxation, clarity, and restoration.
In addition to group offerings, I provide personalized one-on-one sound and vibrational therapy sessions. Each session blends the therapeutic use of weighted tuning forks and Himalayan singing bowls, which are placed directly on the body to allow their vibrations to resonate through the tissues and support the body’s natural ability to return to balance. Participants are also immersed in the soothing sounds of handcrafted rain discs, chimes, crystal singing bowls, gongs, and rhythmic drumming, creating a deeply restorative sensory experience.
Every session is thoughtfully designed to calm the nervous system, release muscular tension, encourage healthy circulation, and support the body’s natural healing processes—helping participants reconnect with a greater sense of harmony, balance, and overall well-being.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been educating people about what sound therapy actually is. Many people have never experienced a sound bath, don’t know what to expect, or have only attended sessions led by someone without formal training. Even fewer are familiar with one-on-one sound and vibrational therapy, so they may not understand how a personalized session could benefit them.
A large part of my work has become helping people feel comfortable enough to explore something new. I enjoy answering questions, dispelling misconceptions, and creating a welcoming, judgment-free environment where people can experience the benefits for themselves.
I’m also passionate about making sound therapy more accessible. I offer sessions for Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants by emphasizing the vibrational aspects of the experience. Using weighted tuning forks, Himalayan singing bowls, drums, and other vibration-based instruments, participants can feel the therapeutic effects through the body, demonstrating that healing isn’t experienced through sound alone—it can also be experienced through vibration.
As you know, we’re big fans of Vibrational Alchemy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At the heart of my practice is the belief that true healing begins when we feel safe, supported, and connected—to ourselves, our bodies, and the present moment. My goal is to create experiences that help people slow down, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with a sense of balance and well-being.
I specialize in both group sound baths and personalized one-on-one sound and vibrational therapy sessions. While group sound baths offer a shared experience of relaxation and restoration, my individual sessions are thoughtfully tailored to each person’s unique needs. By combining weighted tuning forks, Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, rain discs, chimes, and drumming, I create immersive experiences designed to encourage deep relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural healing processes.
One aspect that sets my practice apart is my commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. I welcome participants of all backgrounds and abilities, including Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, by incorporating vibration-based therapies that can be experienced through the body rather than through hearing alone. I also frequently collaborate with breath work facilitators, recognizing that the combination of conscious breathing and therapeutic sound creates a powerful opportunity for nervous system regulation and emotional well-being. Also, many practitioners do not have any formal training. Not only am I certified, but I continue to study books and attend workshops to improve my practice.
What I’m most proud of is the community that has grown around this work. By collaborating with Marcus Pratt and Taralee Trammell to provide breath work at the beginning of a session and ending with a sound bath, we’ve been able to enhance and deepen the meditation experience. I’ve had the privilege of offering sound baths in a variety of settings throughout the Salt Lake Valley—from wellness centers and mountain resorts to botanical spaces and public libraries—making these experiences accessible to people who may never have considered sound therapy before. Nothing is more rewarding than hearing someone say they slept through the night for the first time in months, felt relief from chronic stress, or simply found a moment of peace they didn’t know they needed.
Above all, I want people to know that they don’t need prior experience with meditation or sound healing to benefit from this work. My sessions are welcoming, approachable, and designed for anyone seeking a space to rest, reset, and reconnect with themselves.
How do you think about happiness?
Being outdoors in nature with my family is where I find the most joy. Whether we’re hiking, camping, or simply spending time outside, nature has a remarkable way of restoring both body and mind. I truly believe nature is one of our greatest forms of medicine.
That love of the natural world is woven into my sound bath practice. Many of the instruments I use evoke the sounds and rhythms of nature—the gentle patter of rain, the flow of a river, or the deep rumble of distant thunder through the gongs. My hope is to create an experience that helps people feel as grounded, peaceful, and connected as they do after spending time outdoors.
I also love any time spent creating. I love to watercolor and enjoy trying any new art form.
