Hi Katie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
About two years ago, I brought my first charcuterie board to a family Christmas party. I had so much fun selecting specialty meats and cheeses – some of which I had never even heard of – that I knew I wanted to continue making such fun arrangements. The fact that it was a big hit was just icing on the cake! From then on, I started bringing boards to just about every function I was invited to. Eventually, my family looked at me and said, “You should sell these. People would love them.”
I couldn’t imagine it at first! I had no idea how I could turn my little hobby into a profession. But the spark was lit, and I secretly started researching ways to bring the idea to life. By the time Christmas rolled around again, I announced that Tasteful Table Boards was officially up and running, and I’m happy to say that we just celebrated our first year in business!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As with most ventures, I think the hardest part was taking the first step. I’m quite introverted, and it was challenging for me to start making phone calls and figuring out how to breathe life into my ideas and get my business off the ground. Luckily, I’ve met so many helpful people along the way!
I couldn’t have done it without the support of the small business community in Utah, and for that, I will always be grateful. Nowadays, I just love to connect and create with my clients and treasure the relationships I’ve made along the way.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Be prepared to ask. Ask questions, ask for help, ask about other people’s experiences – just ask! People are more willing to help than you think, and the knowledge you’ll gain will be invaluable.
