Meet Kaylynn Young

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylynn Young.

Kaylynn Young

Hi Kaylynn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started as a food blog back in 2011. Crazy, right? I was teaching special education, and I was a new mom. I was stressed, overworked, underpaid, and under-appreciated, so my outlet was baking. I loved to bring treats into work (to share with the teachers, never the students). People were always asking me for recipes, so I started sharing them. I’ve always shared my life, but it wasn’t until after I had a stillborn baby boy in 2015 that my focus shifted from food and crafts to more of a lifestyle brand. Times changed; first, it was Facebook, then Instagram and YouTube, and now it’s TikTok. Nowadays, I share the funny side of life and motherhood with lots of good food on the side. You can usually find me with a donut because you must keep it accurate!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d be lying if I said anything was smooth ever. Everything goes to plan. Some of my favorite recipes were stolen from my food blog and posted on “bigger” blogs. (Thanks for the SEO boost!) I’ve gained followers. I need followers. I’ve been called awful things, and for what? I love to dance, eat, and laugh. If that’s not your jam, then Bye.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a lifestyle content creator and blogger. I am a mom of 4 girls on earth and two angels in heaven. I’m known for sharing the real, funny, and sometimes controversial. I love donuts, cookies, and cheesecake, and I’ve been known to do the splits for any of these things. (If that doesn’t set me apart, I don’t know what will!).

What matters most to you? Why?
I was being authentic and sharing real life. When I first became a mom, no one was talking about postpartum health, mental wellness, gut health, etc. I was a new mom, and I thought something was wrong with me because no one ever talked about the hard, the real, or the “this just plain sucks!” Our dialogue is much more open these days, but I never want a new mom, or any mom for that matter, to feel alone.
