Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin A Cannon.
Hi Kevin A, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began at age five, when I first discovered my love for music. By six, I was so determined to play that I spent months begging my parents for a guitar. When they finally gave in, it sparked a lifelong passion that has defined my path. I vividly remember coming home after my first lesson and playing John Denver’s “My Grandma’s Feather Bed.” By the age of eight, I was already diving deeper into my craft, setting the stage for everything that followed.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life has not always been a smooth road, and I have certainly experienced my fair share of ups and downs. Whenever I faced difficult times, I turned to composing, recording, and playing music to help me navigate through them. One of my greatest challenges occurred on January 1, 2013, when I technically passed away. Although medical professionals were able to revive me, the experience left me in a coma for a month. in the hospital . they gave me only a 10% of living and I grateful for the doctors at McKay Dee Hospital located in Ogden City Utah
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a music producer with a diverse portfolio that includes producing the album “Kolors” for 2 Point Perspective, as well as several original orchestral projects. What truly sets me apart is my unwavering consistency; I show up and commit to my craft every single day, regardless of the challenges. This disciplined dedication to the creative process is the foundation of my work and my professional identity.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors throughout my musical journey. It all began at Music Village, where my early guitar teachers, Kelly and Jay, laid a strong foundation for my development. After moving to Brigham City at age twelve, I began studying piano under Carol Jensen, who taught in the music department at Weber State University and affectionately called me her “little Mozart.” My technical foundation continued to evolve under the guidance of Ricks Knudsen at the University of Utah, where I focused on concert piano, music theory, and comprehensive composition. Each of these individuals played a pivotal role in shaping my skills and fueling my passion for music.
