Meet Kristina Brown of Be Rooted

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Brown.

Hi Kristina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Kristina and I am 40 years young! I am a mother, business owner, full-time employee, and athlete. I have been running for 30 years and really picked up speed with that passion in 2021. My career field is Regenerative Agriculture and my goal is to design beautiful landscapes that serve a purpose.

The premise is to get people to grow their own food as that is the most important step for one’s health. Or that’s my theory! Our food becomes our cells and eating nutrient-dense food from your yard is the best way to reduce our carbon footprint while nourishing the body.

I balance my love for my children, plants, and exercise by focusing on each task at hand. I’ve learned that multitasking does not mean being productive. I believe in focusing on each moment and giving that my all. Not spreading myself too thin for me to concentrate on the current matter or moment.

Right now, my focus is on building my business Be Rooted as I round out year 5. I am going after my 3rd ultra marathon in October and training daily for that race! Currently, enjoy all things Fall with my youngest child and a new puppy!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road of life has been up and down since I can remember as a child. I grew up in a divorced home and then became a mom at a young age while finishing college. The hardest struggle was in June 2021, when I went in for a vitamin IV and left with a blood clot.

A medical error that almost cost me my life. I was not aware of the damage and ran a race with a blood clot. My heart was over 200 for over two hours and it’s safe to say I am a walking miracle. Last summer, dealing with a blood clot and increasing my mileage has been quite a struggle. However, I have been more determined than ever since that blood clot diagnosis to keep training.

I stopped for two weeks and then decided to monitor my heart while getting back in training. I trained with a blood clot for seven months and have been cleared since January of this year. I believe there are always going to struggle in life and that’s why running is so great for me. Running is my tool for mental strength and clarity!
