Meet Laura Mason

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Mason.

Laura Mason

Laura, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was raised in a musical family in the small town of Tillamook Oregon. Through the inspiration and support of my family, I started acting, singing, and performing dance at a young age. I continued to study and perform in college at the University of Oregon where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in dance. Currently, I am a Social Worker and I love working for the community.

After college, I continued my pursuit of modeling and acting. If I wasn’t involved in a local film or commercial, I was taking acting classes, reading books about acting and seeking collaboration with other actors and filmmakers.

With hard work and tenacity, I am now a professional actress, model, spokesperson, and producer. I have earned four “Best Actress” awards in short films. When not on set I continue training and have mastered several accents. I strive to elevate my acting abilities to accurately portray a wide range of female roles with a diverse range. I love to bring to life complex characters with complicated stories to tell. I have been very blessed to play lead roles in feature films, short films, and commercials.

I have had the opportunity to produce several independent films. I’ve also been a spokesperson in promotional videos, and do voice-over work for radio commercials. I have also enjoyed modeling and working regularly in that capacity. I pride myself on a professional work ethic and fully immerse myself in every role.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The challenges of being an actor require practice, patience, and dedication. My inner dialogue and self-criticism can sometimes get in the way of creativity.

I struggled with harsh self-criticism throughout the process. When creating, I immerse myself into my craft and sharing that can be a form of vulnerability. I have learned to let go of myself as a person so I can become a better storyteller.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a passionate storyteller. Acting provides me with a creative outlet that allows me to connect with audiences and temporarily enrich their lives. I love working with like-minded individuals and collaborating on new projects.

I recently completed a film, “The Reckoning”, with a good friend of mine who co-produced and also played a lead role. This project taught me the entire process of making a film from start to finish. From the script to production to the editing room, and everything and everyone in between.

This experience made me see the many different sides of the film industry. In my next film, I play Amelia, head witch, in “The Witch of Wander Lane” with Zepstone Media. I am beyond excited to bring this ruthless and complex character to life.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Acting helped me form connections with people who love performance as much as I do. I am fortunate to be surrounded by supportive people in my life both personally and professionally who have elevated my potential as an actress.

I find it fun to collaborate with filmmakers and other actors because each one brings a unique perspective to the process. My husband has been my rock, helping me with almost every role I have auditioned for.

I also have been given the encouragement and support of my two children, family, and friends. To all the aspiring actors who sometimes hit the wall, believe in your strengths and keep the movement towards making your dream a reality.
