Meet Leena Sombath of The Blooming Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leena Sombath.

Hi Leena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2014, and looking back, the lash and brow world has completely transformed since I first picked up a pair of tweezers. When I started, my whole philosophy came down to one thing: precision work that never compromises the health of the natural lash. Trends come and go, and so much of this industry leans into quick, lower-quality sets, but I’ve always cared deeply about the integrity of what’s underneath.

That foundation is really what shaped The Blooming Rose here in South Jordan. We grew by stepping away from the one-size-fits-all approach and focusing on custom, elevated artistry. That includes everything from tailored lash extensions and brow laminations to advanced techniques like Korean lash lifts, which focus heavily on nourishing and restoring the lashes while lifting them.

For me, getting to where the studio is today has been about creating an experience that feels like a true reset. Our South Jordan and Daybreak clients don’t just come in for beauty maintenance. They come into our studio to breathe, unplug, and be taken care of. Balancing high-level technique with a genuine, comforting client experience has been the heart of my journey, and over a decade in, I’m still just as passionate about giving women a space where they leave feeling naturally elevated and confident.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth, linear path. Anyone who has run a solo service business or built a studio from the ground up knows there are plenty of growing pains along the way.

In the beginning, the biggest challenge was simply learning how to wear every single hat at once. You start out because you love the artistry and caring for clients, but suddenly you’re also the marketer, accountant, customer service manager, and web developer. Finding balance and avoiding burnout early on was a steep learning curve.

Another ongoing hurdle in the beauty industry is navigating rapid trend cycles and market shifts. Over the past decade, client needs have changed, costs have risen, and the local market has become much more saturated. Instead of trying to chase every quick trend or compete on discount pricing, I had to learn how to stand firm in my value. That meant constantly investing in advanced continuing education, elevating our studio experience, and prioritizing lash health even when heavy, damaging styles were all the rage on social media.

Learning to trust my craft, set healthy boundaries, and build a resilient business that weathers economic shifts has taken time, but every bump in the road helped solidify the standards we hold today.

We’ve been impressed with The Blooming Rose, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Blooming Rose is a boutique esthetics studio located in South Jordan, Utah, specializing in advanced lash artistry and precision brow treatments. We offer custom lash extensions, hand-made volume fans, precision brow shaping and lamination, and specialized treatments like restorative Korean lash lifts.

What we are most known for is our commitment to the health and integrity of the natural lash. We don’t believe in heavy, cookie-cutter application that stresses the natural follicle. Every service is completely customized to each client’s unique eye shape, bone structure, and lifestyle. If a client comes in with compromised lashes from previous heavy extensions or harsh perms, we focus on rebuilding and restoring that foundation while still delivering an elevated, polished look.

What truly sets us apart is the environment we have cultivated. A lot of beauty appointments can feel rushed or transactional, but our studio was designed as a quiet, calming sanctuary for women in South Jordan, Daybreak, and the surrounding Salt Lake valley. From the moment someone walks in, the focus is entirely on relaxation and personalized care. It is a space where our clients can close their eyes, completely unplug from their busy schedules, take a quiet nap, and wake up feeling refreshed and confident.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the genuine trust and loyalty we have built within our local community over the years. Esthetics is deeply personal, and having clients who have trusted us with their faces and self-care routines for years means everything.

For your readers, I want them to know that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort or lash health to achieve an effortless, high-end look. Whether you want a fully customized lash set, a healthy Korean lash lift, or a defined brow frame, our door is always open for women looking for high-touch artistry in a warm, welcoming space.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that longevity in business comes down to staying grounded in your values, even when it would be easier to follow the crowd.

Early on, it’s easy to get caught up in comparison or feel pressured to jump on every viral trend and undercut your pricing just to fill a chair. Over time, I realized that true client loyalty is not built on chasing quick hype. It’s built on deep trust, consistent quality, and genuine care.

When you prioritize the client’s long-term health and deliver an experience where people feel genuinely valued, you build a sustainable business that can weather any market shift. Knowing your worth, committing to continuous learning, and never compromising on your core integrity will always speak louder than any shortcut.
