Meet Lorenzo Rivera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorenzo Rivera.

Hi Lorenzo, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in southeast Los Angeles with a good family but I chose another path, growing up I wanted to be a part of something and the choices I made led me to become a part of a gang and led to many bad choices in life. I was living on the streets for many years from cars to friends’ houses and at times park benches as I was living the life of a drug addict dealer and consuming as much as I could to get out of the reality of what my teachers have told me, ” I would not amount to anything”, “I was a waste of life” “you will be a loser all your life” at 14 years old I started to believe what my teachers started saying.

I saw many things a 14-year-old should have never seen and grew up in a way where I felt I would not see the age of 21 and I believed that! I started burning many bridges with my very own family and was labeled a black sheep for years to come.

After finding a path and snapping out of this way of life was not easy I had to hit many failures in life to start winning. In my 20s, I lost my mother and then started another downward spiral and started drinking because I never learned how to cope with situations.

Then in my 30s, I started learning a lot about business and was a part of a company that took a chance on me and I was like a sponge and started absorbing information as much as I could and thus learned about olives the trees and the different kinds of fruits the trees produce and the business, marketing and management. I knew I had a passion for something I knew I could succeed in after the company I worked for was sold off we all parted company, I had all this raw information on how to build a business and did not know what to do with it.

It was not until I moved to Utah in 2018 and married my wife and then it all started coming back to me and started with thoughts then I was making mock-up bottles then led to revisiting all my notes about what was to become.

In 2019 I took a bottle and made a label from the printer and taped it on a bottle and that is where it all started, while working my career and raising a family I had this burning desire to make this happen and then in 2020 I started all my research to open an LLC and decided to pull the trigger and the birth of EVOO reserved went from a dream to an idea to reality.

EVOO reserved prides itself on using premium extra virgin olive oil and infusing them with premium ingredients to empower home cooks and elevate every dish.

We are a local small business in Ogden Utah and continue to add flavors from olive oils to infused finishing salts.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
starting the business had many obstetrical where in the way the main one being capital and time, since I was working full time being a husband a father, and a life coach for troubled youth time was a huge challenge I was putting money aside and funding all my own purchases little by little.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do maintain my career as a purchasing manager for an aero-space company however this business that I do is my dream and passion. Olive oil has so much meaning and it’s the fruit of the desert and is a wonderful product, I hand infuse every order as they come in so nothing gains shelf until you order. I’m most proud of starting a business from scratch and calling it my own.

I cold infuse the ingredients raw so the more you shake it the stronger it gets so you are in full control of every pour and not limited to one level of flavor

How do you think about happiness?
I have a podcast called finding faith podcast and it tells many inspiring stories of people just like me that can make it. I try to help and life-couching troubled youth where I can because I was what they are now feeling.
