Meet Maddie & Marshall Job

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddie & Marshall Job.

Maddie & Marshall, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started when Marshall got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

This was the moment we had talked about for years. We had dreamt together of what it would feel like to get engaged. I did the “basic” girlfriend thing where I would ask Marshall about all the different possible proposal scenarios he had thought of. I just could not wait to see what he would come up with. When it actually came down to our proposal day, he did better than I could have ever dreamed, literally.

The idea for Pro Proposal Co. simply came as we reminisced on our engagement day. I could not get over how perfect Marshall nailed my proposal dreams. It was like my Pinterest board was copied and pasted into real life. We had never experienced happiness as we did on that day.

I had thought of becoming an event planner but I wanted to do something a little more unique than I felt I genuinely had a passion for. That was when our engagement day came to mind.

We both have always been suckers for doing romantic things for each other. Throughout high school, we would go all out for dates, gifts, and simple things. It was easy for Marshall to come up with something amazing for me because he has that passion. It is one quality we really have in common, we really desire to make people feel special.

We then realized we could use that love we have for special moments and create a one-of-a-kind business that is centered around just that, special moments. What moment is more special than asking someone to marry you? We both loved the process of getting engaged and really want to make other people’s engagement day just as incredible as ours was.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been quite a ride so far, to say the least. We have only been in business for about 4 months and with that our biggest struggle has been patience.

We have a business unlike any out there which results in us building from the ground up. There aren’t other successful proposal businesses in Utah that we can try to learn from or look up to. We are just simply following a vision we created. It is such a unique experience for us as a couple. It may be hard to figure out, but we love knowing we have the opportunity to make our vision a reality.

We are both only 21 years old. We both work full-time jobs and do all of our proposal business on the side. It is difficult some days to find that motivation to continue to get ourselves out there and work hard. What keeps us going is getting to consistently witness these couples live out the proposal moment they’ve been waiting for.

It is one of the most rewarding feelings ever. We feel so lucky to have started this business that allows us to reminisce on our own beginning so often. It makes all the hard work worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We provide everything proposal-related. We have everything from décor rentals to planned proposal packages! Our whole goal is to take the stress out of our client’s proposals.

We think back to our proposal and why it was so special and we think it was because we both got to be present at the moment. Marshall came up with his proposal vision and asked for the help of family and friends to execute it. This allowed him to just worry about the most important part, popping the question!

There is so much that goes into proposals that people don’t realize. There are booking vendors (photographers, videographers, florists, etc.) finding the perfect location, coming up with a proposal plan, buying décor, and thinking of all of those small details all while trying to keep it a secret. It can be so overwhelming for these people who may lack the time or creative mind to do so.

We are most proud of providing a way to make a proposal as special as it can be. While all the extra stuff is amazing and so fun, the truly most important part is for people to be able to completely be in the moment together. We work hard to provide as much help as possible. That also goes into what sets us apart from other businesses. We genuinely just want people to be happy on their proposal day.
