Meet Maria Corona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Corona.

Maria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born and raised in México, I have lived in NYC and I am currently working in Salt Lake City, Utah. After majoring in Human Resources and Management, I fell in love with human connection and its power. That deep love pushed me to follow my forever dream to study art. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art and Communications with an emphasis in Photography.

I love to capture what feels natural and the real essence of brands by understanding the impact of details and the power of great storytelling through images. I am very passionate about travel and brand identity photography. This translated into telling stories however large or small and working with makers, entrepreneurs, and incredible startups that have now endured lasting success.

You can also find me photographing families who cherish slow living. I approach every story I tell as a narrative. A story is full of details, the core, the quirks, and the in-between. I have worked in different countries and traveled to lesser-known parts documenting street photography and forming lifelong bonds with complete strangers.

You can find me most of the time wearing a sweater and walking to my favorite local coffee shop with my kid Luca and dog Mr. Marti while listening to Amos Lee, Ray Lamontagne, and Maggie Rogers really loud.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road to being an immigrant business owner is never easy or smooth but oh boy! it is so worth the ride. Part of being a business owner is embracing the love for the unknown, passion for taking chances, and a strong will to follow our dreams.

So yes, it hasn’t been easy, from being an immigrant, learning English, moving to a new country, leaving everything behind to chase this wild dream to build my own legacy, and becoming a mother but it is my biggest pride.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a brand, commercial and family photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Even though I’ve been based in utah for a couple of years, I love photographing all over and across borders. I truly believe on the richness of telling stories across cultures and languages. I photographed with the premise that your business/life is a continuously growing story to tell, keeping details as anchors to help maintain a consistent look on your visual work.

My approach is led by a strong sense of storytelling. I always advocate finding what I believe to be the three ideal pillars for your visual content: lighting, impactful details, and a strong creative team.

I have a deep love for film photography and the nostalgia that evokes in my work. As a bilingual creative (Spanish+English) I have worked in different countries and traveled to lesser-known parts documenting stories and forming lifelong bonds through creative work.

Some of my latest clients are Nasdaq, Recursion Pharmaceuticals, KnownMedicine, Papyrus, J3 Bioscience, MinusPlus, Distributor Data Solutions, The Land Of Salt, Mosida Market, Workfront, Eno Rings, Hotel Criol, O-lab Ceramics, Saturate.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That every job makes me very nervous but over time I have understood that feeling nervous before means that I care a lot. I care to deliver a great story for businesses, families, and couples and I could never ever take any job for granted.
