Today we’d like to introduce you to McRae Van Noy.
Hi McRae, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up, I always thought I was meant to be a nurse. I took all the medical classes, graduated from nursing school, and spent six years working in the medical field. It wasn’t until I had my fourth boy that something shifted. I realized how deeply I craved creating art — how alive I felt surrounded by flowers and beauty.
My grandmother, Alice, was a florist for many years and was deeply respected within her floral community. Even though she has since passed, I feel her presence often — gently encouraging me to continue pursuing what I love. There’s something incredibly meaningful about carrying her legacy forward and honoring her through the work I create.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a mom of four lively boys who are deeply involved in sports and extracurricular activities, finding time to pursue this dream hasn’t always been easy. People often ask me how I manage it all. The truth is, I’m incredibly blessed with a supportive husband and children who cheer me on, and I’ve learned that when you truly value something, you find a way to make space for it. Together, as a family, we’ve created a rhythm that allows for both meaningful work and a balanced home life.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a nurse-turned-florist and the owner of Alice Bloem Florals, named in honor of my grandmother, Alice. I run a boutique flower studio serving Utah County, specializing in lush, garden-inspired designs for weddings and special events.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my work ethic. I want my children to see that when you believe in something and have a dream, you can achieve it.
I’ve always had a strong eye for detail and a deeply personal approach to my work. I love getting to know my brides and their families throughout the planning process. More often than not, I walk away from each wedding feeling like I’ve gained not just a client, but a new friend.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m not typically someone who takes big risks, but in a moment of inspiration, I chose to be brave. I listened to that quiet voice inside me that whispered, “Go for it.” Taking that leap of faith changed everything, and I’m so grateful I trusted myself enough to follow it.
